About this deal

I was anxious, I was scared, and I was worried. Yes worried. Saffron is pregnant and going through all these stressful times. Theo’s father Victor was also Lorna’s father. Glen Davies is his henchman. Victor commited fertility fraud (inseminated his patients with his own sperm) and had killed Theo’s mother. He was convicted. Overall: I truly enjoyed it. This is my first book of the author! And I absolutely need more works of her! I loved her talented writing style! Twisty, nail-biting, and utterly absorbing, you won't be able to put The Couple at No. 9 down Louise O'Neill

Since the bodies were buried at least thirty years, Saffron feels that she doesn’t have anything to worry about. However, when it is revealed that the bodies were buried while her grandmother was living there, her family is thrust into the spotlight.

Retailers:

Forensics indicate the bodies have been buried at least 30 years. Nothing Saffy need worry herself over. Until the police launch a murder investigation and ask to speak to the cottage's former owner - her grandmother, Rose. I was not too keen on the narrator for Theo who seemed to jar with the character but 5 stars for Nathalie Buscombe who made all the characters come to life in such a vivid and individual way.

When pregnant Saffron Cutler moves into 9 Skelton Place with boyfriend Tom and sets about renovations, the last thing she expects is builders uncovering a body - two bodies, in fact. I was so disappointed then by "Do Not Disturb" , which was so unlike the great writing in my other favourites, it felt like it was written by someone different - a swing and a miss and followed by "Just like all the other girls" which I just could not get into.In some ways it felt more like it was set in the 50's or 60's rather than 70's/80's and present day - but it was very atmospheric and the writing really took you there with wonderful immersive imagery. As Rose's fragmented memories resurface, and the police dig ever deeper, Saffy fears she and the cottage are being watched. However, while I initially thought for the first 50% of the book that the ending was going to be very predictable, I was pleasantly surprised by many clever twists. I am a fan of Claire Douglas and have read several of her thrillers, so I should have known better than to expect a predictable ending! When Saffy and Tom move to 9 Skelton Place, they're excited about the possibilities. The property once belonged to Saffy's Grandmother and it will take a little work to get the place just how they want it, but with their first baby on the way, they're willing to take on the project.
