The only reason I’m not awarding The Ex Hex a full five stars is that the story loses a bit of steam midway. It rebounds beautifully in the final act, though, giving the reader a magical, emotional conclusion to Vivi and Rhys’s journey. I was very reluctant with this book, as I said because of the hype. Buuuuut, clearly I made a good decision I've made this far. If I had read it before, when the hype was at its peak, I would've rated it with 5 stars or so. 4 starts is good for me tho. Why don’t you tell our readers a bit about yourself? The conflict really starts to happen around 85% of the book. The main focus of the story is the romance, so there wasn't as much setup for the conflict. And by the time it's starting to unfold, the story ends. This was a really low-stakes romance when it could have easily had a little more plot.
Fun and irreverent, the book has a lot of humor and heart to it throughout, making for an easy read moving at a brisk pace. It’s engaging, along with characters who feel real, as the reader really feels invested in Vivienne Jones and her relationships. The story itself is definitely entertaining, as it keeps the reader hooked every single step of the way, making it a must for any fans of supernatural romantic comedies.In 2010 Rachel Hawkins would begin her career as a writer, starting with the novel ‘Hex Hall,’ which would also begin a series of the same name. There would also be a ‘Hex Hall Spin-Off’ in 2013 with ‘School Spirits,’ along with the ‘Rebel Belle’ and ‘Royals’ series in 2014 and 2018. She would also write a number of stand-alone books too, starting with ‘Journey’s End’ in 2016, followed by ‘Ruby and Olivia’ in ‘2017.’ According to the protégé effect, the student teachers score higher on tests than students learning for their own sake.
The Ex Hex was one of my fave reads last year so I was soo unbelievably excited to get the opportunity to review The Kiss Curse. And honestly, it lived up to all my expectations! It’s witchy, sexy and full of flirtatious banter I couldn’t get enough of. I loved returning to Graves Glen and seeing Vivi and Rhys again, but I have to admit Gwyn was definitely a one of my fave characters in The Ex Hex and I’m glad she finally got her own book. Sooooo, overall. It was a funny and cozy read. I actually felt the witchy Sabrina-Halloweentown-Hocus-Pocus vibes and I really really liked it, even more than I thought. Erin Sterling casts a delightful spell with a spine-tingling romance full of wishes, witches, and hexes gone wrong. this was exactly what i needed rn: a witchy rom com set in a small town, featuring a curse gone awry, a talking cat, and a charming welsh man.

Nine years ago, Vivienne Jones nursed her broken heart like any young witch would: vodka, weepy music, bubble baths…and a curse on the horrible boyfriend. Sure, Vivi knows she shouldn’t use her magic this way, but with only an “orchard hayride” scented candle on hand, she isn’t worried it will cause him anything more than a bad hair day or two. May I kiss you? and she’d said, Now? and he’d smiled that slow smile and said, Now is preferable, but I’m open to whatever your schedule allows, and how was any woman supposed to resist that?” There’s loads of magical mayhem in The Ex Hex and quite the hilarious circumstances (e.g. murderous wind-up toys). Were there magical mayhem scenes that didn’t make it into the finished version or rejects you thought of initially?
