It did have some very good information that I will be using. However, it was almost overwhelmed by the obnoxious attitude taken by LLL towards breastfeeding. This is a very informative tome, covering lots of different breastfeeding topics. It covered the stuff that is in all the pregnancy and early childcare books, as well as topics I wouldn't have thought of, such as different feeding holds/techniques, unique troubleshooting information, and lots more. It includes many different references, not just for breastfeeding, but for other issues as well, such as sleeping, feeding solids, etc. Want to pump/bottle feed? Well you shouldn't you ungrateful bitch because breastfeeding is the greatest joy you will ever know and your child will suffer if you do anything else. BUT here we'll include a scant section on pumping IF YOU MUST (even though we told you multiple times you will literally cripple your child if you do.) Mother and baby need to be together early and often to establish a satisfying breastfeeding relationship and reliable milk supply.

Good nutrition means eating a well-balanced and varied diet of foods in as close to their natural state as possible.

TEAR-SHEET TOOLKIT There isn't even good practical advice; the section on different breastfeeding positions doesn't even have images for every position!Lastly, while I am an advocate for breastfeeding, am committed to breastfeeding my baby when he arrives, and have NO issues with women breastfeeding in public, these authors write with such an entitled attitude, you'd think the entire world should stop for a breastfeeding mother (and shame on the world if it doesn't!). Nursing may be a normal part of life that should be acceptable, but I would argue it doesn't automatically give breastfeeding mothers an out to be disrespectful to others... Some social awareness is still appropriate at times, I think. All books available in our Group Libraries or sold in LLLGB Shop have been reviewed and approved by LLLGB to ensure they contain accurate information and are a good fit with our philosophy of mothering through breastfeeding. Because of the influence of LLL the WHO recognises the importance of exclusive breastfeeding for the first six months of the baby’s life, which the UK NHS has also adopted as best practice. LLLI are partners with WABA. After having discussions with them and the writers’ team, we decided to aim for October 2024 as the publication date for the new book. The writers are already working enthusiastically and the Board has closed the Task Force. It has been a truly amazing journey!
