It's that time of the year again! Whether you’re ready to catch some serious rays, or struggling to cover up, there’s no denying the importance of an all-season must-have: sunscreen. A pure mineral sunscreen that spreads with a sheer but slightly shiny finish. SUPERGOOP! Mineral Sheer Screen is one of the better pure physical sunscreens that I have tried. No toothpaste feel with SUPERGOOP! Mineral Sheer Screen. Although there is still a white cast with SUPERGOOP! Mineral Sheer Screen (as expected with any pure mineral sunscreen), it is a very light one and is almost unseen if I blend it really well on my skin. Definitely one of the better finishes for with mineral sunscreens. Heatforce Technology is another interesting aspect of SHISEIDO The Perfect Protector SPF 50. With this proprietary technology, the sunscreen’s protective benefits increase when the temperature increases. I was not able to find details about the mechanisms of Heatforce; so if any of you do, please let me know and I will update this post accordingly . If you're not looking for any extra fluffs and just want a sunscreen that'll do its job, look to the basics under this series (which, are not at all basic). In Japan, this is a very popular brand and very highly rated, on par with Shiseido Anessa. Was very thrilled to finally be able to try it after reading about it for years and years! Now, if anyone is headed to Japan, you know what to get me 😛

SUQQU is also one of my favourite beauty brands. I’ve been a fan of their sunscreens and makeup for years. As I’ve shared in my older sunscreen review post, SUQQU’s original sunscreen called Face Protector Advanced 50 was my favourite sunscreen for its lightweight formula and naturally radiant finish. This sunscreen was discontinued in 2019 and replaced with this sunscreen, SUQQU Extra Protector 50 in 2019. Needless to say, SUQQU Extra Protector 50 had high expectations to live up to. Ethylhexyl Triazone, aka Uvinul T 150, another new generation sunscreen agent with super-high UVB protection YSL Pure Shots Airthin UV Defender is a sunscreen that takes too long to dry and feels very greasy. These are my favourite sunscreens at the moment, and the ones I personally used ever since I bought them from Japan and Bangkok last year. The Allie Extra UV Gel has a lightweight lotion-gel texture, that is very comfortable on skin and almost feels hydrating on. It does not feel heavy or greasy, and although I use quite a lot on my skin, does not make my skin oily. I find that it protects my skin well enough, in that I do not notice new dark spots, nor does my skin feel unusually warmer (like a toasted feel) after sun exposure. This is my personal measure and what dictates if a sunscreen works for me. Now that Kanebo Allie sunscreens are here, I won’t have to hoard them anymore or seek them out when I travel!

I have recently learnt from excited readers and friends, that Allie sunscreens are now available in Malaysia at Watson’s stores and online. SUPERGOOP! Mineral Sheer Screen SPF 30 is the latest drop from SUPERGOOP!. This mineral sunscreen was launched in Singapore at the end April 2021. I’m adding this sunscreen to the review as I found that this mineral sunscreen does not have the white/ ashy cast or toothpaste texture that is classically associated with pure mineral sunscreens. As for the disadvantages, Zinc Oxide is also not cosmetically elegant. It leaves a disturbing whitish tint on the skin , although , according to a 2000research paper by Dr. Pinnell, it's slightlyless white than TiO2. Still, it's white and disturbing enough to use Zinc Oxide nanoparticles more and more often. The Colour Tuning sunscreens have a complexion correcting and pore-refining effect, which negates the need for additional face make-up such as foundation. Allie Chrono Beauty Facial Gel UV EX: This is like the Beauty Gel UV variant, but is best suited for the face only, especially for sensitive skin users. Comes in a tube size of 60g.Methylene Bis-Benzotriazolyl Tetramethylbutylphenol, aka Tinosorb M, the good buddy of our current molecule Tinosorb S WHO WILL LIKE THIS: Anyone who wants a versatile sunscreen for face and body, Anyone who wants a light textured sunscreen with very high sun protection factor I like Sheseido Wetforce’s light texture and subtle glow, except it’s scented and loaded with chemicals. Most sunscreen contain an ultraviolet absorber called ethylhexyl methoxycinnamate (also known as OMC), which cause heavy damage to coral reef, so several countries legally prohibits using OMC-contained sunscreens. However, you can safely use this product because it does not include the OMC.

When applying the body, take the line-like product directly from the container onto the skin, and circle it with your hand to evenly spread a sufficient amount of gel to fully fuse with the skin. SHISEIDO Anessa Perfect UV Sunscreen Bubble Spray also takes a while to dry, compared to the other body sunscreen that I prefer, BIORE UV Aqua Rich Watery Gel. Some sunscreens had better protection than others. Among the sunscreens that emerged with better performance (i.e. with the least extent of sunburn) in this experiment were: SHISEIDO Anessa (my holy grail sunscreen from my sunscreen review blogpost in 2019!) and ALLIE Extra UV Facial Gel, a new favourite of mine. Formula wise, it reminds me of my beloved Shiseido Anessa Perfect UV Sunscreen Milk- a mix of physical and chemical filters with vitamin E and green tea extract. SHISEIDO The Perfect Protector SPF 50 has a thin, watery formula. There is a floral fragrance on application. It did not irritate my skin. Allie Chrono Beauty Color Tuning UV 02 (Sunny Apricot) - I was actually most excited to try this variant due to the fact that it is said to help blur out dark eye circles. Unfortunately, it did not really meet my expectations, although I understand why this was advertised as so. This formula helped to tone down any redness, and I can imagine it would help to lessen the look of really heavy eye bags (not dark circles). Octinoxate– An elegant chemical filter that protects against UVB rays. Not very stable when used alone but pairing it with Tinosorb S helps tremendously. Kao added that it is planning to donate part of Allie product sales to support environmental conservation groups. Sunscreen and moreyou, You'll receive a gift credit for the value of your return. It sits nicely under makeup, and importantly, does not make my skin feel warm as the day wears on. YAY for SPF50+ PA++++ Rating It is also for this reason that I prefer using Japanese brand sunscreen. For me, they have worked better. My pigmentation is kept under control, and I do not experience more uneven darkening of my skin than necessary. As part of this, the company developed the Chrono Beauty range to suit sunscreen regulations in certain countries, regions and beaches that have come into play recently with fears that some sunscreen ingredients could harm the marine ecosystem.
