About this deal

Retired Major General Clive (Chip) Chapman spent decades as a paratrooper, battlefield commander, instructor, and served as the British Defense Ministry’s head of counterterrorism. He also served a stint as Britain’s senior military adviser to U.S. Central Command.

Not only has he gone too far in talking about this in terms of himself but it may have repercussions for others. Chapman: Now, of course, it doesn't make sense militarily. But for example, rather like the discussion early in March last year about a no-fly zone. From a military perspective, the advice you give is, “Can we?” Yes, we can, we could impose a no-fly zone. But politicians ask two different questions: “Should we?” and “Must we?” So, you do need a strategy bridge between political intent and military power. But you also need that between the senior military folk and the politicians. And ultimately in a democracy it's the politicians who make the decisions, not the military men. While tweeting that he loved the Prince, Former Royal Marine Ben McBean said the royal needed to "shut up". Because the Prince was a Apache pilot who used cannons or missiles from a range some way away from the action, Chapman says there is no way he could ID or bury anyone. The Network does not replace or seek to duplicate any of the existing ‘official’ networks, e.g. the PRA, but it aims to draw in many with whom RHQ has lost touch, whilst streamlining communications with those still ‘close’ to the Airborne family. OVER 1,200 REGULAR AND RESERVE, BOTH SERVING AND RETIRED AIRBORNE OFFICERS AND WO1S, ARE MEMBERS OF THE WORLD-WIDE, UK AIRBORNE NETWORK (ABN). He was as an instructor on the Platoon Commander’s Division before returning to 2 PARA as the Adjutant. In 1989-90 he served on exchange with the Canadian Airborne Regiment prior to attending UK Staff College at Camberley in 1991. On graduation he became Chief of Staff 5 Airborne Brigade. The second thing is, of course, that, when Pavel joined the military, Czechoslovakia was still under the boot of Russia. And he was schooled, of course, in some of his early courses by the spetsnaz [special forces], because he served in the Czechoslovak parabattalions. But the fact that he is a libertarian -- because those who have been occupied and seen what an invasion means in the east -- and Czechoslovakia, of course, was invaded in 1968 -- don't like it, and want to go towards freedom and liberty. That therefore limits your tempo of operations -- it slows it down in sustainment and availability terms of logistics, artillery, ammunition, and the like. So, I think it's going to be almost up there as one [example] of that dreadful phrase...“it's a game changer.”

I want to ensure that the systems and processes that deal with misconduct by police officers are robust, independent and transparent to the public. In July, I commissioned Major-General Chip Chapman to review the police disciplinary system. His report has been completed and I will consult on his recommendations for wide-ranging reform shortly. That consultation will also include proposals to fundamentally reform the police complaints system and further protections for police whistleblowers. The ABN is a not-for-profit group which aims to support RHQ PARA and The Parachute Regiment Charities by disseminating information of a military, social, commercial or charitable nature. Members must be commissioned officers or WO1s, have passed Pre PARA Selection (‘P’ Company), PARA trained or pending a parachute course and serving with or have served in the UK Airborne Brigade. Commissioned or WO1 RAF PJIs are also eligible. NOK of deceased members are also welcomed. RFE/RL: On Bakhmut, most of what was remaining as a regiment has been transferred to the east. Will we see more sieges like we saw in Mariupol last year? Will that become a new norm to hold on to Ukrainian territory? RFE/RL: Your former student finds himself the president-elect of a sovereign country in Europe. What are your expectations of General, and soon President, Petr Pavel? They're the ones who potentially would be a fracture, in terms of centripetal forces, which do impinge upon the Russians, which could break the Russian Federation apart. So, [Russian President Vladimir] Putin has a sort of balancing act in terms of what he can do. I don’t think he’d want to try and mobilize hundreds of thousands more troops if he can get away with not doing that.
