About this deal

The name "Einhyr" is a fictional cognate to the einherjar of Norse mythology, which means literally "army of one" or "those who fight alone" in Old Norse. The einherjar are those who have died in battle and are brought to Odin's hall of Valhalla in Asgard by valkyries.

Excellent.It’s still a shooting army, and volume is king: The current Votann range is small and will see expansion down the line. At this moment in time the most effective units in the Index are shooting ones. Hearthguard, Thunderkyn, Sagitaurs and Land Fortresses all boast enough volume shooting to mitigate reductions in accuracy (most of the army is now Ballistic Skill 4+ base, but Hearthguard remained at 3+). You can boost this with judgement tokens, but as we will get to in a moment, you can’t count on this as much as you used to. A Votann army can put out an enormous amount of firepower, and this remains key to victory. HearthkynWarriors– the first Leagues of Votann models ever to beshown off– form the core of their armies. Squads of up 20 hardy warriorsare led into battle by their Theyns. Their void armour is tough, and their weaponry is better than the finest creations of the disciples of Mars. Though they are adapted and trained for war, unlike Space Marines, the Hearthkyn have lives outside of battle. Begin your painting journey by priming your Einhyr Champion model. A primer provides a smooth surface for the paint to adhere to, ensuring better coverage and durability.

During the Declare Battle Formations step, for each Leader in your army, if your army also includes one or more of that Leader’s Bodyguard units, you can select one of those Bodyguard units. That Leader will then attach to that Bodyguard unit for the duration of the battle and is said to be leading that unit. Each Bodyguard unit can only have one Leader attached to it. I started with a compact, elite force of Hearthkyn Warriors , Einhyr Hearthguard , and an Einhyr Champion – and in all honesty, it was too small. Even with my Hearthkyn splitting into two boarding squads, I only had four units on the board – too few to capture objectives and meaningfully engage the enemy. In each of my games, the loss of just a single unit – which will happen – was ruinous. At the start of the battle, each objective marker on the battlefield is said to be contested, and so is not controlled by either player. To control an objective marker, a player will first need to move models within range of it. A model is within range of an objective marker if it is within 3" horizontally and 5" vertically of that objective marker. Something worth noting is that sub assemblies will be annoying on this kit, the coat of the driver goes under the rear suspension so you will need to leave both sides of those off if you want to do them separately. This also means you are looking at a minimum of five subassemblies as the hand is molded onto the steering column and you would want to leave the gunner off too. You will also find this means that the main trike body will be separate from the base too, which is going to make holding it to paint a bit annoying. Powerful ranged weapons stillfeature heavilyinthe Votann armoury. The newly revealed datasheet for the Hekaton Land Fortress shows that the dreaded Heavy Magna-Rail Cannon remains lethal, with S18, AP-4, dealing D6+6 wounds, and ignoring armour saves on to-wound rolls of six. It’s not all nerfs. The first Leagues of Votann detachment, Oathband, will allow you to select an enemy unit at the start of the game and give it two Judgment tokens. What’s more, you’ll earn a bounty in Command Points for destroying that target, earning more points the sooner in the battle you annihilate it.
