About this deal

holy GREAT DIVINE, this book CONSUMED me. so far, the H is all bark and no bite, bUT damn THAT WAS ONE OF THE BEST DISPLAYS OF ✨CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT✨ I HAVE EVER SEEN IN A HEROINE. it was badass & powerful ( im referring to the WHOLE journey, not just the epic showdown at the end of the book). whats more satisfying is the fact that SHE DID IT ALL ON HER OWN. thats right, girl! Slade who? knight in shining, spiky armor?? WE DONT NEED HIM!!! this is THE AUREN SHOW, and no one outshines her💅😌 Another thing, I like that she was getting closer to the other women, especially Rissa. And WE CANT FORGET SWEET SAIL! My poor boy. I’m going to start crying again. The blindfold has been ripped from my sight. Now, my heart doesn’t squeeze. My stomach doesn’t flutter. He broke something inside of me far more than just my heart. He broke my will. My drive. My voice. He broke down my very spirit, and I let him. There's more scheming and more secrets resurfacing and Auren will either have to follow her heart or remain in her gilded cage. I can't find another reason for writing such an absurdity in the most awful way possible. The writing is BAD. Where to start? How to explain? A king in Ancient Greece tells his concubine "My kingdom is broke". Everyone in this book should be shifted into a strip club or a sex dungeon in the USA, what this has to do with Ancient Greek and why people are calling this a retelling? If anyone discovers the reasons, please could they enlighten me. I want to apologise to all the Greek Retellings I've read and the people of Greece on behalf of this book. Not only bland and awful, but also it's so bad that I'm struggling to define how bad it is. I'm not native and my English isn't sufficient to explain the awfulness of this book. This should be illegal bad. It made me cringe and bite my fingers bad. I wanted to throw the book to the wall bad. I wanted to walk out to my garden and pour a gallon of fuel on this book and lit a match bad. It's so bad, that it makes Sarah J Maas look like a winner of Nobel prize literature.

This book is raw, incredibly violent and dark. In my opinion, it gives it more realistic depth and macabre charm, but I would advise it against audiences who are sensitive or impressionable to the contents in this book. Penguin books. How did you publish this? If I were an author published by Penguin books, I'd strike. I would march out in London streets and protest that they aren't actually creating an imprint to publish these books. I don't know, thinking of their imprints, Michael Trash instead of Micheal Joseph? Turd Tree instead of Fig Tree? Bintage, instead of Vintage? Doubledumb instead of Doubleday? ANYTHING, so that this book wasn't actually published with same branding with some of the books I read and loved. Also, WE GET SOME CHAPTERS IN SLADE'S POV IN THIS BOOK!!!!! I really can't get enough of him, he's definitely the newest addition on my long list of book boyfriends. I would not call him a love interest yet, because whatever it is Auren and him have is not even close to romance yet, but there is definitely some (sexual) tension between them, and there is clearly potential for an awesome slow-burn hate-to-love romance here, and I really hope this is where they’re heading because I love how they interact, and how Rip can get under Auren’s skin and forces her to put everything into perspective. I skimmed through most of it because nothing much was happening and the main character committed the worst book crime imaginable and was completely uninteresting. I felt no connection to her and spent the majority of the book hating every stupid thing that came out of her mouth. There's naivety and then theres just plain stupidity and Auren is definitely the latter.

He’s sinister and powerful and entirely too seductive. I’ve learned my lesson with trusting manipulative kings, so why does my chest constrict every time he’s near? I need to tread carefully, or I’m at risk of losing much more than just my freedom. Auren: her character is very hard to explain, she’s shy and bold and sweet and scared all at the same time! But even though it was hard to read about her “love” for Midas, I’m very excited to see how she grows and develops later.

After living amongst the terrifying army of Fourth Kingdom, I find myself, once again, in strange lands and a kingdom surrounded by liars.

You're still here?

In Highbell, people sometimes traveled for weeks just to look at me. Midas would let me stand beside him in the throne room as they gawked. But no matter how long I stood there on the pedestal for them to look, no one really saw me. If they did, they’d know I’m just a girl with jagged rips and pitted holes inside of her, with golden skin hiding a broken heart.
