About this deal

The titanic Warhammer: The Horus Heresy - Age of Darkness boxed set contains a treasure trove of content, from a massive rulebook detailing the setting and stories of the Horus Heresy, as well as gorgeous photography and art, and all the core rules you need to play the game. The box also contains 54 Citadel miniatures - including a massive Spartan Assault Tank and a host of MKVI 'Corvus Armour' Tactical Marines - allowing you to build two opposing forces for out-of-the-box play, or construct a huge Legion force all your own. Alongside all of this, you'll get all the game accessories and rules reference materials you need to immerse yourself in the worlds of the Age of Darkness.

Whilst I always have a problem with GW vehicles having too high a profile making them easy targets there’s no doubting this is an impressive looking machine. For me doors to unload troops should be at the rear. This gives disembarkees protection from enemy fire. Also a door at the front presents an armour weak spot just where you don’t want it! Buy The Book Another factor that played a role was the establishment of an administrative entity called the Council of Terra. Numerous Primarchs perceived these human bureaucrats as encroaching upon their rightful position as leaders of the Imperium they had tirelessly forged. To compound matters, the Primarchs were deliberately excluded from the Council, giving rise to apprehension among many of them about the prospect of an Imperium governed primarily by human administrators, rather than the Emperor’s sons and their Astartes Legions. The mouldings are all crisp and clear of flash. GW plastic is easy to work with for tidying up sprue marks etc. The level of detail is intense. Assembly is straightforward and the parts all fit together really well. I’ve built a lot of plastic kits: German, Japanese, American and these are the most satisfying. Warmaster Horus Lupercal has plunged the Imperium of Mankind into a cataclysmic war of unimagineable ferocity. Setting brother against brother he has risen up against the Emperor taking half of the Legiones Astartes with him. The nine steadfast loyal legions defy this onslaught through years of strife to the culmination in 30014 of the Siege of Terra. The Horus Heresy: Age Of Darkness is the long-awaited prequel to Warhammer 40000 depicting the era 10,000 years before. Allying himself with the Ruinous Powers, Warmaster Horus convinces half of his brother Primarchs and their Space Marine Legions to betray their oaths and make war upon the Emperor and his loyal sons. Taking the side of traitor or loyalist, two players control either fearless Space Marine legions or deviant Chaos Space Marines, mighty Titans, Imperial Armies both loyal and traitorous, and a fearsome array of other units, including the Emperor and Horus themselves. [1] Gameplay Imperium Secundus faced continuous internal strife, primarily due to political clashes between Guillimanand Lion El’Jonson. Sanguinius, unable to mediate between the two, had visions revealing that the Emperor lived and Terra persisted. These revelations, coupled with the constant disagreements among the ruling triumvirate, led to the dissolution of Imperium Secundus. Although Sanguinius, Roboute Guilliman, and Lion El’Jonson attempted to breach the Ruinstorm and reach Terra, only Sanguinius and the Blood Angels succeeded. The Battle of Trisolian and the Wolf Cull (012.M31)

The 5 man squads consist of 4 Terminators and 1 Terminator Sergeant. The Terminators are armed with a Combi-Bolter and a Power Fist which can be exchanged individually for a Heavy Flamer and a Chainfist respectively or collectively for two Lightning Claws. In the year 0014.M31, on the first day of Primus, Horus’ armada finally reached the Sol System. During the intense final phase of the Solar War, the traitors wrested control of the Solar System from loyalist forces, despite Rogal Dorn’s best efforts to stall until reinforcements arrived from Roboute Guilliman and Lion El’Jonson. Once within range of Terra, Horus and his forces devastated Luna’s naval bases and, within thirty days, overwhelmed the Terran system’s defences. Terra endured bombardment and devastation. The corrupted Astartes from the Sons of Horus, Death Guard, World Eaters, Emperor’s Children, Iron Warriors, Thousand Sons, Word Bearers, and Night Lords eventually landed on Terra, facing fierce resistance from defenders led by the Imperial Fists, Blood Angels, and White Scars. Vast numbers of traitor Imperial Army, Dark Mechanicum, Chaos Cultists, and Daemonic forces joined the traitor Astartesin the assault on Terra. The loyalists were outnumbered, and the battle for Terra escalated into a siege of the Imperial Palace. This set comprises six plastic components, and is supplied with a Citadel 32mm Round Base. This miniature is supplied unpainted and requires assembly – we recommend using Citadel Plastic Glue and Citadel paints.

The mighty Dreadnought – man resurrected as killing machine – is depicted in Contemptor armour and with a vast array of weaponry available. In gameplay the terms the Contemptor USP is that it has its own atomic reactor power source enabling such a heavy weight to still move with speed. Renouncing his allegiance to the Emperor, Horus led his Legion into the dark embrace of the Chaos Gods. Horus’ strategic brilliance became evident as he successfully converted half of the Legions, along with numerous regiments from the Imperial Army and several Titan Legions, to his cause. In his eyes, the Emperor was revealed as a man unworthy of the admiration and loyalty of humanity. While the Heresy was sparked by a conspiracy orchestrated by the Chaos forces, it was further fuelled by several contributing factors that drove numerous Legio Astartestowards rebellion. Among these factors, the foremost was the Emperor’s unexpected return to Terra and his subsequent seclusion as he immersed himself in a secretive project, which he withheld from his Primarchs, including his beloved son Horus, who held the title of Warmaster. This apparent abandonment of the Great Crusade, coupled with the Emperor’s reluctance to confide in his own sons, sowed seeds of mistrust, resentment, and disappointment among many of the Primarchs towards their father. The Horus Heresy was truly set in motion when Warmaster Horus suffered a grievous injury at the hands of the possessed Eugen Temba, who wielded the stolen Anathame on the ill-fated moon of Davin, a place tainted by the corrupting influence of the Chaos God Nurgle. Despite Horus’ superhuman immune system and the earnest efforts of the Sons of Horus’ most skilled apothecaries, the wound inflicted by the accursed blade refused to heal. In a desperate attempt to find a remedy, the Mournival transported Horus to the Davinite Serpent Lodge, believing it held the key to his recovery. Unbeknownst to all parties involved, Erebus and the Word Bearers had masterminded the events on Davin, orchestrating them in secret.Speaking of units, Horus Heresy comes with a ton of plastic miniatures. Players get to control troops ranging from Space Marines to the huge mechanical Titans. I also liked that each faction has their own somewhat unique looking minis in various colors. Once the game is setup and in progress, it’s hard not to admire the sheer scale of Horus Hersey So yes, Horus Heresy has a really strong theme and the game utilizes it quite well. One of the things that helps tie the theme to the game is Horus Heresy’s fantastic components. From the excellently sculpted minis to the very well laid out 3d board, Horus Heresy is just a joy to behold. Even the cards are both very functional and include thematic Warhammer artwork. These two elements combined help to provide a rich game play experience for Horus Heresy. A players action cards decide which units they can activate and what they do. For long years, the Horus Heresy has ground on. Now, the Death Guard have been sent to begin the final battle. But Mortarion and his sons must face their gravest challenge first – for Nurgle has claimed them as his own, and he will not be denied…
