Throughout their childhood in Paris, they’d hover over the light box, loupe to eye, and gaze at the mesmeric locales their father had captured on 35mm slides. “Venetian palaces, Palladian villas, artists’ houses, masters’ ateliers, cabinets of curiosity, princesses’ boudoirs, Tuscan castles, Napoleonic apartments, fishermen’s huts,” Adrien, who took the pictures for this story, wrote in Joseph Dirand: Interior, published by Rizzoli several years ago. “We would relive these trips with few words, passion, and a hint of mischief.” The main bedroom is composed of an armchair by Oscar Niemeyer; the console by Charlotte Perriand; the Scarabée side table by Georges Jouve. Joseph was able to combine different styles in his home, choose the right materials and colors, and made it just outstanding. PYR has been entrusted with iconic historic landmarks as well as cutting-edge developments around the world as a direct result of the creative integrity, authenticity and craftsmanship they bring to every project. Designer Ramy Fischler’s firm RF Studio has recently completed the refurbishing of a duplex apartment in a listed building on Place de Colombie, in Paris’ 16th arrondissement, France. It offers accommodations for up to 16 guests and a crew of 25, and has an innovative Neptune lounge with a large underwater window. He decorated and designed interiors for some of the biggest and most respected personalities and tastemakers. His main customers included Yves Saint Laurent and Pierre Bergé, for whom he decorated the Château Gabriel, in Benerville-sur-Mer. Jean Philippe Nuel Launched in 2009, SuperYachtFantransitioned from a gallery of yacht imagery to a pivotal resource, culminating in the Super Yacht Owners Register—a meticulously compiled database featuring over 1,450 yacht owners.

Dirand’s style is almost instantly recognizable, characterized by strong lines, impeccable proportions and breathtaking precision. “The way he treats and defines space is very clean,” says Mahdavi. “He’s created a language of his own by reinventing traditional French decorative elements in a contemporary way.” Kalt agrees, saying, “It’s the meeting of classicism and minimalism. There’s both a Cistercian touch and great elegance.” And as Gilles Malafosse, owner of the Palais de Tokyo’s Monsieur Bleu, points out, “One of the main characteristics of his work is the absence of anything superfluous.” There were so many spectacular stories to tell here,’ Dirandsays. ‘There was a rich archive of photographs where you could feel the energy and the mood' They say that you are a minimalist not only in your architecture but also in your way of dressing. Is that correct? You also designed several restaurants, among them ‘ Loulou’ ‘Le Flandrin’ and ‘Monsieur Bleu’ in Paris. What is your concept in these restaurants? It is an honour to work with such a talented team of architects and designers.” – Radha Arora, President of Rosewood Hotels & Resorts.

Pierre Yovanovitch is an artist that use the traditional french craftsmen to create unique interiors and pieces made of noble materials such as marble, stone, metals or copper. Joseph and Anso said that they needed a new space, an upsize. Their research was exhausting because, according to them, it is really hard to find a “noble building”. According to Didier Gomez, he practices an art design dedicated to well-being. Through his agency DGID, the designer has completed some of the most iconic projects all over the world, including the Café Roset in Moscow, La Coupole restaurant in the Printemps store in Paris, the Asia Lounge restaurant in Almaty and the Méridien Montparnasse in Paris and Joël Robuchon’s Yoshi restaurant in Monaco. These are just a few of the visionaries whose work I admire. There are others, like Oscar Niemeyer, John Lautner, Eero Sarineen, Mies van der Rohe, Peter Zumthor; and so many others that inspire me. Most of them create both architecture and interiors. After spending 10 years as a horse breeder he decided to open a studio in 1987, focusing on interior architecture and furniture design. His first project to win acclaim was the refurbishment of the Hotel Montalembert in Paris in 1988.Maurice Beaudoin, "Loulou, un nouveau restaurant dans les jardins du Louvre", Le Figaro, 13 June 2016 (in French) I am currently working on two big residential buildings, in Miami and New York, in which I design both the architecture and the interior. We are also currently converting the previous US Embassy in Grosvenor Square in London, which was designed by the Finnish-American architect Eero Saarinen, into a luxury hotel for Rosewood in collaboration with David Chipperfield. I am also working on the most complex and exciting project I have ever worked on, a private explorer yacht of 118m that we have completely designed, from the hull and the superstructure down to the smallest interior details. It is a puzzle of millions of pieces composed around the idea of traveling in remote places to explore the beauty of this planet. The boat is under construction and will be in the water in less than two years. This was my first experience of boat building, so I had to learn everything and I surrounded myself with the best engineering team to support this vision. We are working on long term projects, so we don’t yet feel the impact of this crisis, though no doubt they will be affected in the future. I prefer to believe that this nightmare will soon find an end, and think about all the people who are really suffering today. Let’s discuss some aspects of French style interior design that stand out, talking about different kinds of Parisien interior design styles, and then moving on to elements design styles in different kinds of living spaces.
