Yes. The earplugs can be cleaned with mild soap and warm water. Dry thoroughly before re-inserting into ear canal. Push and twist plug into ear to form an airtight seal. Be careful not to push plug in too far that you are unable to easily grasp it with thumb and forefinger. Pre-moulded silicone earplugs: probably the most common type of swimming earplug, these gain points for being durable. However, some people find that the non-customised fit means they have a tendency to fall out of their ears. If you are having trouble getting the plug to seal, re-insert and wiggle stem while gently pushing plug to form an airtight seal. If you are having trouble inserting the plug, try pointing the tip of the plug slightly forward, toward face, during insertion.It is believed that the earplugs slow down and/or decrease the effects of the in-flight air pressure changes, thus allowing the ears more time to respond and equalize. As mentioned above, another manner by which the earplugs help is by lowering the noise levels in the cabin allowing the user to rest, thus helping combat the effects of jet lag. The benefit of this rest is twofold in that is also helps calm and relax the “tense” flyer, thus allowing them to equalize more effectively. The earplugs are made of polyurethane foam. The “latex” in our foam earplugs is not natural latex, it is a synthetic latex technically called an emulsion polymer. It has the same properties as latex (water based, adhesive, etc.) but does not have the enzyme problem associated with natural latex. We recommend wearing the earplugs the entire flight, up until the airplane has landed and the cabin has been depressurized. After trying various types and sizes of earplugs, these Slim Fit soft foam ear plugs are the only ones I found that I could wear all night without any pain from the plugs being too large, AND without the plugs popping out halfway through the night. But they are still easy to remove in the morning. Finally I can sleep comfortably all night without being woken up by my noisy upstairs neighbors. Definitely consider giving these a try if you have the problems I did – with plugs falling out or being too tight!
