Amour ( pronounced [a.muʁ]; French: "Love") is a 2012 French-language romantic drama film written and directed by the Austrian filmmaker Michael Haneke, starring Jean-Louis Trintignant, Emmanuelle Riva and Isabelle Huppert. The narrative focuses on an elderly couple, Anne and Georges, who are retired music teachers with a daughter who lives abroad. Anne has a stroke that paralyses the right side of her body. [4] The film is a co-production among the French, German, and Austrian companies Les Films du Losange, X-Filme Creative Pool, and Wega Film. The theme of love has been similarly varied in art, with artists using different mediums to express their ideas about love. From the iconic paintings of the Renaissance to the sculptures of the classical era, art has captured the beauty, passion, and pain of love. While Saint Amour is a very uneven story, there are a couple of scenes that make the entire movie worth watching. It starts off in a State-Fair-esque festival, where Gérard Depardieu has prepared his bull for the prize show. At the same festival, there are several booths of wine tasting, and Gérard's son, Benoît Poelvoorde, goes on a bender. From there, the movie takes on a Sideways tone, with father and son hiring a driver, Vincent Lacoste, to take them on a wine tour. Next up is a random pseudo-romance with Céline Sallette, who, without warning or immediate explanation, sleeps with all three of them. Louise Attaque is one of my favourite French bands! In their song Les Nuits Parisiennes, they talk about Parisian nights and how they’d like to see what nights are like in other places too.

Several months before the opening scene, Anne and her husband Georges ( Jean-Louis Trintignant), both retired piano teachers in their eighties, attend a performance by one of Anne's former pupils, Alexandre. They return home to find that someone has unsuccessfully tried to break into their apartment. The next morning, while they are eating breakfast, Anne silently has a stroke. She sits in a catatonic state, not responding to Georges. She comes around as Georges is about to get help, but has no idea the stroke occurred. Georges is unable to persuade her to get medical attention until Anne finds she is unable to pour herself a drink. We know of Josh from the previous book A Christmas Fling. His roommate Liam is caring for Josh’s love of his life, Sally. His dog. It seems Paris has plans for these two Americans and suddenly much depends on their love life. This is a short novella and enjoyable read.The meaning of love is constantly changing, reflecting each new generation’s unique values and beliefs. In conclusion, the evolution of ”amour” over time has been shaped by various cultural, social, and historical factors. The film is based on a situation that happened in Haneke's family. [27] [28] The issue that interested him the most was how to manage the suffering of someone you love. [28] Amour was screened at the 2012 Cannes Film Festival, [5] [6] where it won the Palme d'Or. [7] It won the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film at the 85th Academy Awards [8] [9] and was nominated in four other categories: Best Picture, Best Actress in a Leading Role (Emmanuelle Riva), Best Original Screenplay (Michael Haneke) and Best Director (Michael Haneke). [10] At 85, Riva is the oldest nominee for Best Actress in a Leading Role. [11] [12]

It got to a point where political leaders feared civil war or a revolution.

Although I placed this song in the section containing English songs about Paris, it’s a bit of an exception. Under the Bridges of Paris contains both English and French lyrics. Paris s’eveille is one of the most famous French songs about Paris. In 1991, this song was even voted the best French-language single of all time!
