About this deal

With the above process I slowly made my way through the Blightkings kit, as I could only make one mold at a time. Once I nailed the process and amounts of milliput down I was able to make some good progress doing a couple of casts each day. The Sorcerer, with a Sorceress model available as well now, excels in debuffs: on a 5+ for each of the 3 dice rolled damages by 1 an enemy fighter and reduces the Toughness by 1 (to a minimum of 1). Within a matter of days the Repugnauts grew swollen and fat on the vibrant enemies that hummed through them. Some rotted, some bloated, some changed to resemble the insects that marked them out for the favour of Nurgle in recognition of their boldness. Around them the Brass Keep itself changed, large portions of its walls dripping unclean fluids into the mountainside that surrounded it. By the time the Maggoth Riders of Icehorn Peak had reached the fortress, its inhabitants had been reshaped completely by the polluting power of their divine patron, a warband of veteran killers with the power of a small army in its own right. [1b] One important keyword to keep an eye on is if a unit is either a Mortal or a Daemon as some abilities or traits benefit only one category. For example, you can summon Daemons by using contagion points, that is another currency for Nurgle armies. There are different ways to obtain them, but the simplest is through their terrain feature, the Feculent Gnarlmaw, or by ensuring to always occupy with one unit each both theirs and the enemy territory. Mix up some milliput and press it into both sides of the mold, and press the mold together. The key is to get the right amount of milliput; too much and the molds won’t press close enough together, too little and you will have gaps in your cast. I found that about a half a centimeter of each of the milliput logs mixed together was enough.

They can release a virulent discharge that wounds their enemies, but heals those aligned with Nurgle. [3a] Mount

Pusgoyles, for example, are expensive but not only they are the fastest model available, they can also fly allowing you to reach places otherwise inaccessible with the base 3” movement of the rest of the warband. Movement can be increased with the Sonorous Tocsin (for a Double) adding 1 to every move starting within 7” of the initiator. This requires accurate positioning or would end up redundant compared to the universal Rush. In game terms, the Maggotkin are a slow attrition army, with plenty of ways to provoke mortal wounds and they are extremely resilient. Their aesthetics are rich with decaying, decomposing, purulent iconic elements, so you will need some stomach to paint them. On the other hand, they are a perfect beginner-friendly army, especially for novice painters, as it allows for messiness, actually embracing it, while still keeping the potential for award winning paint jobs. The next major hurdle to be surmounted was the terminator’s weapons. To keep with the terminator-heavy theme, I decided that I needed to equip the model with a powerfist. This was a pretty simple conversion, just requiring me to snip off the Blightkings lower arm and replace it with one of the Cataphractii powerfists. Next I added some torn cabling hanging from the weapon and an elbow guard taken from a plastic space marine terminator. Aside from adding a shoulderpad, I don’t believe I will add anymore armour plating to his powerfist arm (now it looks like armour has fallen off after years of warfare and demonic corruption). Amongst the warriors from the Glottkin's muster at Fjordlingtribe, the most devoted of the Nurglite triplets' followers found themselves bulge and bulk out, as mutations of a severity that would have killed lesser men bestowed strength instead of weakness. [1b] When Alarielle took advantage of Nagash’ demise by launching herself a powerful ritual that replaced the deathly energies with life, awakening primordial forces, Nurgle saw an opportunity to corrupt this blooming abundance. Thrice-ripened Death’s Hand (Double, Lord of Blights): A chance to do some random damage depending on ability value and dice roll (up to 12) to a 7″ away fighter. The Putrid Blightking with Blighted Weapon has the same weapon profile of the Icon Bearer and no special ability for 5 points less. Tom: Hello friends! This month marks the 6th anniversary of our weekly live show about Warhammer Age of Sigmar, and the Warhammer Community team gave us a chance to celebrate this milestone by talking about our favourite Chaos armies. To that end, Vince is going to be discussing Slaanesh (as if you could get him to stop) – and I’m going to be talking about Nurgle. But first, introductions! Most of the warband is contained in the Start Collecting! Maggotkin of Nurgle that contains a Lord of Blights, 2 Pusgoyle Blightlords (one can be assembled as a Lord of Affliction) and 5 Putrid Blightkings. All different Blightkings profiles are included in the box and do not detract from the correct use of that unit in an Age of Sigmar game.

Nurgle’s terrain is the Feculent Gnarlmaw, a really corrupted tree that exemplifies what happens when Nurgle forces take root. In game, the Gnarlmaw is another way to spread disease points but most importantly, one to obtain contagion points (1 for each tree without enemies within 3″). You can have one tree in your army for free, and an extra one if you take Befouling Host subfaction or Horticulous Slimux. They can also be summoned. All Chaos gods can use other chaos units as coalition units (better integrated than allied units), but Nurgle excels in this by recruiting Skaven as well. Here are the armies that can be used as coalitions, but consider that most Nurgle abilities specifically require to have the Maggotkin of Nurgle keyword, for example the 5+ ward save: Many and varied are the weapons with which these blessed few perpetuate the cycle of life and death. They range from those which typify the tribes of the north, such as bone-crushing flails and flesh-hewing axes, to far stranger tools of destruction that echo the proclivities of their divine patron. Some of their number boast insectile appendages, others battle scythes, or staffs that carry massive verdigris-stained bells, each clanging out a sonorous death toll as its wielder caves in the skulls and ribcages of their foes. [1a] If they are truly MI then they are brokenly undercosted. I don't think 'infantry' is a typo however as the minimum size is 5 models and physically they appear much smaller than an Ogre or Troll even if they share the same base size. And M4 is way too low for MI. In battle the bands of Putrid Blightkings form the rank and file of the Maggotkin of Nurgle, banding together to wreak havoc in the name of grandfather Nurgle. Their hulking mass is often enough to barge right through enemy lines. Their plagued cleavers, swords, and scythes carving a bloody path of death and slaughter. Along with their comrades and daemon allies, they’ll turn the Mortal Realms into Nurgle’s own paradise. One battle at a time. On the Field

The leader of a unit of Putrid Blightkings is a Blightlord, who has an extra wound to tank more damage. Furthermore, one of them can be chosen to be a Standard Bearer. Increasing the unit’s base Bravery from a solid 8 to an even stronger 9. Making them even tougher to shake off. One of the Putrid Blightkings may even carry a Sonorous Toscin. These are giant bells to announce their presence and charges. Thus adding 1 to the units run and charge rolls should the Sonorous Toscin be present. Maggotkin are a devastatingly powerful, resilient, and rewarding force no matter how you like to play. While they won’t be winning many foot races, they can dish out a metric ton of punishment and take even more in return. Whether you prefer daemons or mortals, you won’t be disappointed by the results. The Poxbringer is a wizard that would go in pair with Plaguebearers, but does too little to be remarkable. Fast forward to the end of 2019 and we saw some adjustments – reducing the consistency of the Locus of Diversion and lowering the ability to summon during the game. This, combined with the loss of realm artefacts, pushed the army down firmly into the fat middle.* They’re still competitive, despite not ruling the top tables anymore. One of the interesting elements of Slaanesh forces is that they’re a total glass cannon.** The army has no anvils to soak up the blows, so it can’t take much of a punch before it shatters. This means that you have to use your forces smartly or face obliteration, so you always need to be utilising your superior speed to choose your battles. Blightlords form the vanguard of the Rotbringer hosts, swooping in low over the enemy and able to shatter a battle line with a single charge. They, much like a lethal infection, tear open a gap for the rest of their kin to flow into. They also sow panic and despair ahead of the armies of Nurgle. [1a] [2] [3a] Nurgle armies are perfect beginner’s armies because they do not require precision, on the contrary the messier the better. In saying so you may want to follow some guidance, Warhammer Community updated their guide with the new battle ready tutorials for classic and contrast method. Many populations surrendered to Nurgle seeing in his blessing what other gods denied them by abandoning them. The most zealous and worth of those warriors receive personal boons from Nurgle and become his chosen, the Rotbringers. Nurgle does not thrive in military conquest, his chosen are people who forsake other Chaos Gods while infected in the hope of surviving or loyal followers that poisoned cities or fortresses by bringing disease and plague to those that dared to defy Nurgle.
