About this deal

In RS485 communication protocol, the commands are sent by the node which is defined as a master. All other nodes connected to the master receive the data over RS485 ports. Depending on the information sent, zero or more nodes on the line respond to the master. As a result of differential signal transmission there is always a potential difference between the wires. This ensures high resistance to common mode interference. In addition, the twisted pair may be shielded, which ensures the protection of transmitted data. All this allows sending data over long distances at relatively high speeds, which can reach 100 kbits/s at 4000 feet.

We recommend you return any goods via a postal/carriage service that requires a signature upon delivery. Communication network built on the RS-485 interface consists of transceivers connected by a twisted pair (two twisted wires). The basic principle of RS-485 interface is differential (balanced) data transmission. That means one signal is transported over two wires. With that, one wire of the pair transmits the original signal and the other one transports its inverse copy. Interface adapters, also known as interface cards or I/O (Input/Output) adapters, are hardware components used to connect and facilitate communication between different devices or subsystems with different interfaces or protocols. These adapters serve as intermediaries, ensuring compatibility and data transfer between devices that might otherwise be incompatible due to differences in connectivity standards, voltage levels, or communication protocols. An RS232 interface is a system based on voltage levels and performs optimally in situations where there are minimal differences in ground potential. Environments that exhibit high levels of electrical noise and variable ground potential impact RS232’s ability to transfer data efficiently and can lead to data loss or corruption. The USB-i485 module is a cost-effective way to add an industrial RS485 or RS422 serial port to your PC using a standard USB port. When connected to a PC USB port the USB-i485 module is automatically detected and installed as a native COM port compatible with ANY existing serial communication application. The USB-i485 converter can be configured for four-wire (full duplex) RS422 and RS485 or two-wire (half duplex) networks. When operating in two-wire RS485 the data transfer control is handled automatically (autogating) by the converter.

One of the main features that differs RS485 communication from any other serial communication is the format of data exchanged. While RS232 devices connect over text (ASCII) protocols, most RS485 devices use Modbus. The item(s) are returned within 30 days of cancellation. The 30 days start the day after you have notified us of the cancellation If the goods are incomplete or there is a shortfall you notify us within 3 days of receiving the goods The transmission speed possible with an RS232 interface is 1Mb/s for a distance of up to 15 meters. RS485 offers greater speeds of up to 10Mb/s over a distance of 15 meters. When taken to its maximum length of 1200 meters, the RS485 protocol transmits data at 100Kb/s. On July 9, 2020 Modbus Organization replaces Master-Slave with Client-Server to describe Modbus communications, characterized by communication between client device (s), which initiates communication and makes requests of server device(s), which process requests and return an appropriate response (or error message).

Quality Guarantee - SerialComm converters are low priced, high quality products and made to last a lifetime. They are manufactured in a ISO-9001 certified facility using surface mount technology with lead free components. All converters are pretested prior to shipment and are fully guaranteed for 5 years. There are no converters, Commercial or Industrial that surpass SerialComm's quality standards at any price tag. Two independent and isolated RS485 networks can be supported by one USB-i485 module thus doubling the number of remote devices that can be connected. Multiple modules can also be installed when using powered USB hubs, thus allowing a hassle-free configuration of a multi serial system without any IRQ or DMA configuration. 1500vDC isolation between the USB port and RS485/RS422 protects the PC from spikes and other possible transient voltages on the communication bus.

In accordance with The Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 we would like to make you aware of the following important information: Here are some common types and examples of interface adapters:• Serial to USB Adapters: This adapter converts a serial (RS-232/RS-422/RS485) connection into a USB connection, enabling older serial devices to connect to modern computers with USB ports. RS-485 to Ethernet Converters: Converts RS-485 serial communication to Ethernet, enabling integration of legacy industrial equipment into modern networked systems.
