About this deal

As mentioned, the design is almost identical to the T500RS pedals. That isn’t a bad thing. Unlike some cheaper pedals, the T3PA-Pros feature a full metal construction. This really elevates the perceived quality of this pedal set. Read our full review of the T3PA Pro pedals where we compare them to these T3PA pedals, and find out which you should buy. Drifting around corners feels realistic as I let the wheel slip through my hands when the car regains its grip. The experience is powerful and unbelievably smooth, justifying its asking price and immediately selling me on the belt mechanic. Considering the size of the servo, it sounds relatively quiet during gameplay, except for some built-in cooling fans powering up during intense moments. The T3PA pedals include a factory supplied "conical brake mod" which is intended to feel just like a load cell. Don't be fooled! This device makes the pedal feel increasingly firmer the further it is pressed, making harder to move. However, the pedal is still using a potentiometer and is still reading movement rather than force. So while the game is determining braking by how far the pedal has moved, the "conical brake mod" is preventing the pedal from moving creating a dis-proportioned amount of in-game braking relative to the force being applied to the pedal. A load cell corrects this. The load cell replaces the potentiometer and turns the pedal into a purely force-based reading. Therefore, any additional force on the pedal directly translates into a proportional amount of braking applied in the game. This leads to better control over the brakes for better trail braking resulting in better lap times.

The great thing about the DriveHub is its huge compatibility with all sim racing products. It includes all main wheel bases, pedals, shifters and handbrakes from Fanatec, Thrustmaster and Logitech. This means you can create almost any combination of sim racing products, creating your ultimate sim rig for console. We tested this in all four configurations, and preferred the longer brake travel, with a medium increase to resistance. For us, this felt the most natural, as the short brake travel just felt too unrealistic. This allows you to run a closer brake and throttle pedal for heel and toe downshifting, if that’s your style. You may think on first impression that these look identical to the already existing T500RS pedals. And, well they are certainly very similar. But that is for good reason. The T500RS pedals feature the best product design of any Thrustmaster pedal set to date. When you compare these pedals to the standard two pedal set you will see a lot of similarities. The majority of the base of each pedal set is made from plastic. The pedals themselves feature a similar metal design and construction, and they’re hinged in the exact same way.We would confidently say that you will be able to drive better with these pedals compared to the two pedal set. The clutch pedal allows the introduction of heel and toe braking and downshifting. And the brake mod allows you to have much better control over your overall braking technique. With the conical mod installed, the brake pedal almost becomes like a true progressive brake. It feels similar to a loadcell brake, although it’s not quite there in terms of braking quality. It sits just under a loadcell brake, such as that in the Fanatec CSL Elite LC pedals. But despite not being able to compete with a true loadcell brake. The T3PA-Pro conical brake is almost, almost there. It adds a new dimension in terms of braking quality compared to other Thrustmaster solutions. And it should be your go to setup for a Thrustmaster pedal set. We would definitely recommend installing this rubber cone, as it dramatically increases the performance and feeling of the brake. Over time you will be able to brake more consistently and realistically, than you could without it. In this game you can adjust the STEERING WHEEL ANGLE from 40° to 180° in SETTINGS / GAME / STEERING WHEEL ANGLE)

The conical brake mod is where these pedals really come in to their own. The T3PA-Pro pedals come with two brake mods in fact. The first is the spring based brake mod from the T500RS pedals. This is OK, and effectively makes the brake pedal stiffer.

Thrustmaster have reworked the plastic base to include a nicer, more subtle grip design, which also adds to the increased aesthetic quality. Unlike other pedals which utilize cheap load cells originally designed for use in a postal scale, the load cell in the LC3 upgrade kit is a medical-grade load cell designed to withstand much higher loads at faster response times. The load cell is designed to have an unlimited life cycle and the accompanying components are designed to be equally as robust. If you fancy increasing or adjusting the brake pedal resistance, the T3PA kit does come with an optional brake mod. This brake mod (the conical rubber brake mod) features an industrial-grade high-density rubber cylinder. When you are looking to buy a Thrustmaster sim racing wheel, you will see that the main wheel bundles come with a two pedal set as standard. You do have the option to upgrade to a three pedal set as part of these bundles, which add these T3PA pedals to your bundle.
