About this deal

However, the two have to commit to keeping things professional. That’s partly to keep their own careers safe, but also because Holly is managing a campaign that is being threatened by a bomber. Meanwhile, the detective is noticing that there are similarities here to a case from the past that ended up burning him badly.

After reading the next book, I noticed that the author has a sex sequencing recipe. And after sex the guy just has to ask “You like that, baby girl?” Ugh! Why? 😖🤢I personally loved the three POVs, between Leo, Anna, and Leo's cousin/enemy Dean. It provided such a different dimension to this book, and set up Dean for his (dare I say) Draco Malfoy-style redemption arc (in book 3). Dean provided so much tension and angst - I think that if we hadn't gotten his POV the story wouldn't have been as interesting or dynamic. I loved him (and wondered why he wasn't the hero) - then I hated him, even when I kind of pitied him. It made me so excited for his book.

All the light went out of my life,” I whisper. “I’ve been so dark without you.” The Heir, Chapter 24, 69.3% Once again, Sophie Lark delivers a solid storyline and phenomenal character development. The Heir, the first book in the Kingmakers series, a spin-off to the Brutal Birthright, is wonderfully written, stunning, and totally captivating. The premise is fascinating, a new adult mafia Academy romance with friends-to-lovers and dark elements. Kingmakers Academy is where the second generation of criminal organization heirs, enforcers, future spinners are prepared and mentored to run their family's criminal empires. Academy is pretty brutal, rules are stringent, and punishments are severe, devised to make the students as ruthless and cold as possible. The storyline is an intricately woven love triangle between Anna, Leo, and Dean. Anna is Miko and Nessa's oldest kid, Leo is Sebastian and Yelena's only child. Dean is Leo's cousin, but there is more hate between the two than love. Anna, Leo, and Dean's personalities are multilayered and appealing, expressing genuine depth while bringing unique elements to the story. Their story is elaborate and intense, filled with drama, angst, tension, and unforeseen twists. As soon as it started, I was hooked and was totally lost in the great plot and narration. I annoyed that I’m annoyed by this book. I’ve been enjoying Sophie Lark’s work and I was expecting this to be a win since majority of her books have been a win. Callum and Aida's story Brutal Prince was an explosive ride and the glimpses of Nessa made me super excited to read her book! The letter to Kingmakers is what all these kids wait for. It is their expectation and a look into their future. Basic training for the next gen Mafia families.

i've never been a huge fan of the kidnapping trope but i must say that sophie has done it so well. nothing intimate happened up until 50% of the book and thank god for that because with this trope it’s necessary to build up their relationship And I know who did this. I’ve seen the way they look at her, whenever she leaves our flat to go to school. I see them leaning against their expensive cars, arms folded, their sunglasses failing to conceal how they leer at her. Sometimes they even shout things at her, though she never turns her head or answers. Sophie is interested in a variety of hobbies, from attending comedy shows live to body building and hiking. She loves hanging out with her kids and her husband. The ideal day for this writer would be going to Harry Potter World with the kids, going for an evening of dancing with her husband, and then settling down to relax with a book in hand and a huge bag of salt and vinegar flavored potato chips. Heroine: Anna Wilk (18) is a no-nonsense type of girl who stands up to what she fesls is right; her short relationship with Dean has disappointed me though.
