About this deal

Far Cry 5, 6, Metro, Red Dead Redemption 2, Tomb Raider – recorded with the included Benchmark utilities; With so many options available in the market, anyone can get overwhelmed while purchasing gaming laptops. Thereby, we have listed the top 10 gaming laptops of RTX 40 series in this article. From RTX 4050 gaming laptops to RTX 4060 gaming laptops and the flagship RTX 4090 gaming laptops, we have listed these laptops in a way that there is something for everyone. Both the CPU and the GPU perform at 60-70% of their capabilities on Turbo, which are excellent results given how quietly the laptop runs. Gaming performance Update: Here are the configurations available for the Asus ROG Strix Scar 16 and Scar 18 (2023) series: Oh, and there’s still an unnecessary always-on light in the power button. What’s the point of that?

We test Windows PC graphics with two DirectX 12 gaming simulations from UL's 3DMark: Night Raid (more modest, suitable for laptops with integrated graphics), and Time Spy (more demanding, suitable for gaming rigs with discrete GPUs). In modern multiplayer games, a stable internet connection is imperative. The Strix SCAR 16 is ready to join the fight with a dedicated RJ45 port, as well as the latest Wi-Fi 6E wireless standard. On Wi-Fi 6E supported networks, enjoy access to the newest wireless band, free from clutter and interference from your home’s other wireless devices, ensuring you never lag out again. Moreover, thanks to the 13th Gen processors, these gaming laptops from the RTX 40 series deliver the extended platform support needed to optimise your PC with the latest gaming technologies. The CPU runs at high power for the entire duration of this test, but gets slightly thermally limited after a few runs. The Asus ROG Strix Scar 16 is no slouch on the sound front, either. The quad-speaker Dolby Atmos system puts out plenty of volume and there’s a nice, wide virtual surround soundstage that’s superb for casual gaming. If you’re into competition you’ll still want a headset, but I found the big screen and big audio made for one of the richest, most immersive gaming experiences I’ve had without VR or a 40-inch plus screen. Performance The Scar 16 compensates by being more compact and lighter (2.5 Kg vs 3.1 kg), which make it a more versatile laptop format for those of you who need to get your computer to work or school every other day. It also offers a beautiful mini LED display with HDR support, an option not available on the Scar 18, and a more minimalist keyboard layout. Mostly everything else is identical between the two, though. The keyboard is still a rubber-dome design with adequate travel and per-key RGB control, but the novelty is a slight layout change around the arrow keys, which are now full-size instead of miniaturized as in the past, but at the same time squeezed in between the other keys, and no longer spaced out. I’m not sure how I feel about this update, I’ll have to spend more time with the keyboard before making up my mind about it.

The SCAR has a full-sized keyboard, with dedicated media controls and dedicated hotkeys that are tuned for volume and Armoury Crate controls by default and can be customized for different functions or macros. And with per-key RGB and full Aura Sync customization, the SCAR will always have the looks to match your mood. In comparison, here’s what we got on the bigger Scar 18 model with similar specs, but with a regular IPS QHD+ display. Finally, most gaming laptops have a dual fan cooling system, but the SCAR 16 was able to push the performance envelope even further with the introduction of a third fan that helps keep the GPU and VRAM cool. Paired with seven heatpipes and Conductonaut Extreme liquid metal on both the CPU and GPU, the SCAR 16’s cooling system is a marvel of engineering.Power through any game or project with an Intel Core i9-13980HX processor, featuring up to a 65W TDP and a hybrid architecture built from the ground up for Windows 11. With up to 8 Performance cores and 16 Efficiency cores, AAA gaming is flawless and streaming is effortless. The laptop boasts the exclusive MSI OverBoost Ultra technology, enabling maximum performance for the CPU and GPU. There’s another notable novelty for the 2023 ROG laptops: a MUX with Advanced Optimus is now implemented, which means you no longer have to restart the systems when switching between the hybrid and dGPU modes. This also means G-Sync is now supported on the main displays of both laptops on the dGPU mode, with some potential benefits in certain games over the ActiveSync implementation of the past.
