About this deal

Excellent fanedit that cuts out the extraneous/unneeded elements and pares the story down to its essentials, thus focusing the narrative and highlighting the key motivations, themes, and characters (esp harvey's arc) much more effectively. Highly recommended. Superhuman Stamina: Bruce's body can handle the stress of moving at superhuman speeds for extended periods of time without getting tired or weak. [24] [21]

This is often called the first “modern” Joker story. Brubaker’s Joker targets the powerful and wealthy through the twin weapons of toxins and television in, essentially, a direct homage to this 1978 classic.Nigh-Omniscence: Bruce perceives time in a non-linear fashion. This means that he sees the past, present and the future simultaneously. His powers allow him to view everything throughout time as well as the workings of the multiverse. Bruce is also aware of every Batman from the Dark Multiverse, and was able to pull aspects of the most terrifying and vicious of them, including their skills and experiences, and stitch them into his own mind. [23] They hide their faces beneath owl masks and the most terrifying aspect of their organization are the Talons – immortal assassins that rival even Batman in combat prowess. Bruce never believed the Court was real. A nursery rhyme about the Court has long been regarded by most in Gotham as a myth. That is, of course, until Bruce makes a discovery. The Court of Owls storyline is a must-read and has become so popular among fans that it was used as the basis for the recent video game Gotham Knights. 8. Knightfall DC Comics Angers, Charles (25 April 2023). "Festival Classica: The Man Who Laughs, opera by Airat Ichmouratov and Bertrand Laverdure". myscena.org . Retrieved 18 July 2023. The Man Who Laughs (1909 film), made in France by the Pathé film company and produced by Albert Capellani. No copies of this film are known to survive.

It’s as if DC paid Gordon enough to reprise his role as the narrator in Year One, but not enough to climb fences or give chase. Look at that body again. Now realize they don’t even bother counting the victims. GCPD and the City Brubaker’s own “ Made of Wood ” ( above ) which had been published two years prior to this one-shot. (#784-786 are collected in this trade.) Both stories have the killers scrawling violent messages to announce both their intentions and their origins. While assumed dead, The Batman Who Laughs is revealed to be in the custody of Lex Luthor, who offers him a place in the Legion of Doom. [5] At some point during the formation of the Legion of Doom, Joker met with Lex Luthor and advised him not to bring the Batman Who Laughs into the group. The Batman Who Laughs talks to Lex Luthor about the worlds beyond the Source Wall as Joker listens in. [2]Molecular Reconstruction: The Batman Who Laughs was able to restructure and alter his appearance at will. He is not limited to using this reconstruction power only on himself, as he can also take apart most inanimate objects and human beings. [13] The Batman Who Laughs kidnapped Commissioner Gordon and brought him to the hideout that he shared with the Grim Knight. Laughs remarked that he hoped to form a strong partnership with Gordon - in his own twisted way. Performance of The Man Who Smiles]. Ваш Досуг (Your Leisure Time) (in Russian). Lippincott Company. p.181.

Modified Joker Venom: Laughs made a modified strain of the Joker Toxin that made him insane. The toxin eliminated all positive aspects of one's personality rather than completely driving them insane, leaving only feelings like rage and resentment. This plays out during the conclusion of the story. Batman could end it all there and then by dropping Joker into the poisoned reservoir, but reassures himself that “I can’t.” Reprieved, the Joker threatens to kill the residents of Gotham some other time, to which Batman responds “no, you won’t.” The Man Who Laughs takes place roughly one year late, and shows Gordon as bitter, jaded, and hopeless. He’s suddenly nearing the nihilism of a cop on burnout and subsequently adds nothing to the investigation. My question is: “what the hell happened in that 12 months? And why isn’t that the story?” Johnson, Jim (17 February 2019). "There's a New Batman Who Laughs, and He Just Might Be a Good Guy". CBR . Retrieved 26 March 2019. In 2013, another musical version in Hampton Roads, VA featured a blend of Jewish, Gypsy and Russian song styles.
