About this deal

The telescope features a higher focal length, and it’s a great option for those who may be interested in exploring astrophotography. The Celestron PowerSeeker 70AZ’s small aperture limits its ability to show you much besides the Moon, planets, double stars, and a handful of the brightest deep-sky objects. The Moon will show a wealth of details, and you can view the phases of Venus and the ice caps of Mars. Jupiter’s cloud belts and the Great Red Spot (as well as the giant planet’s moons) should be visible along with Saturn’s moons, rings, and maybe a hint of its cloud belts or the Cassini Division in its rings. In comparison to other telescopes like the Celestron Powerseeker 80eq, the Celestron Powerseeker 70AZ has a longer focal length making it a better choice for close ups of the moon and viewing planets. Both telescopes have an aperture of 70mm, and it’s important to note that a higher aperture will provide a better resolution.

I am not really a fan of the finder but it serves it’s purpose fairly well. Like all finders, be sure you set it up during the day using a far away object such as the top of a telephone pole, water tower antenna, etc. Once it is adjusted it is acceptable. Of course, no telescope in this price range has a good finder because that would take money away from making the actual telescope better and we do not want that. You can do without a finder, but a terrible quality main telescope will just make the whole thing a waste of money, and the Celestron Powerseeker 70AZ is certainly not a waste. Final thoughts Overall, this refractor telescope is an excellent value for beginner astronomers interested in observing planets and the moon. While it may not have a particularly high aperture or magnification capabilities compared to other telescopes on the market, its natural-looking views make it a great choice for those just starting out in astronomy. Accessories include a 20mm and 4mm eyepiece, a finderscope, a motor drive, a 3x Barlow lens, and a smartphone adapter. The two eyepieces offer different magnifications for low and high powered views. The 3x Barlow lens triples the magnifying power of each eyepiece. The Celestron PowerSeeker 70AZ’s mount is certainly not worthy of much in the way of praise, but it is not useless either. The Celestron AstroMaster 70az is a great choice for anyone looking for an entry-level telescope that doesn’t require too much of a learning curve. If you’re hoping to see anything past our solar system in any kind of detail, that’s where these telescopes won’t really be able to help much.

For telescopes with a shorter focal length, you can expect a wider field of view, allowing you to see more in one shot. If you’re looking for an affordable and lightweight telescope that’s easy to assemble, the Celestron AstroMaster 70AZ might be perfect for you. This refractor telescope is part of the Celestron AstroMaster AZ line and offers good value for beginner astronomers interested in observing the moon and planets. The PowerSeeker mount comes with two slow motion control knobs that allow you to make fine pointing adjustments to the telescope in both Right Ascension and Declination axes, also referred to as RA and DEC. It’s no question that the aperture is one of the most crucial, as it affects how much light gets through and the resolution of the objects you see. Overall, while there are some limitations with this beginner telescope, it still provides an excellent opportunity for anyone interested in exploring our solar system and beyond. The PowerSeeker can capture most objects in our solar system as well. Its main difference here is that it comes with better magnification. Both have their use cases, but the AstroMaster and PowerSeeker both come with a refractor optical design. If your new to astronomy you’ll find the included SkyX – First Light Edition software to be very helpful and enjoy the entire learning process more. It contains a 10,000 object database with printable sky maps and 75 enhances images. Pros of the Celestron PowerSeeker 70AZ:
