About this deal

Many pedalboards offer bespoke solutions for cable management, with special clips and runners that will keep things nice and tidy, making it a lot easier to chop and change as you need. However many pedalboards leave you to work this out yourself, which means getting out the cable ties and getting creative. It’s easier than you think to create a neat looking pedalboard, but it does take time, and you should always plan out your cable runs before committing to cable tying them. Trust us, there’s nothing more annoying than undoing all your hard work because something is wired wrong, or won’t reach its destination. How we choose the best pedalboards

This company based in Sonoma, California offers a great variety of pedalboards for all needs and preferences. Custom Pedal Boards even has their very own line of custom-built guitar pedals, most of them in a mini type form factor that will occupy very little space on a pedalboard. Clever! Cutting the boards required nothing more than marking the lines directly onto the MDF, cutting them out with a hand saw and cleaning up the edges with sandpaper. However, I did make a routing template to ensure the power supply cut-outs would be as neat as possible. The advantage to this design is that it can be angled for shows and then laid flat when you close the lid – which means that the overall case height does not need to be increased to accommodate the angle. The design is completely up to you! You can either make a simple design with no drawings or words or try putting on a cool pattern or design. It’s also a good idea to label each pedal with the type of effect it has (like distortion, echo, etc). 3. Is it difficult to make a DIY Pedalboard? One of the great aspects of West Coast Pedal Board is all the variety that their custom shop offers, with very customizable options that allow you to execute your vision for your pedalboard but have an expert builder take care of it and guide you along the way. This is great as you can really create something especially for the pedals you want to showcase on your pedalboard. You can add inputs & outputs to the side of the board to hide all cabling underneath the board and you can even build in a power supply to power all of your pedals directly from the board.

Some people will say that you need to buy expensive high-quality cables for your rig as cheap cables will impact your tone. However, if you have a buffer in your signal chain, odds are you’ll have at least one pedal on your board, I think that this becomes less of an issue and you won’t receive a huge return on investment. The skies the limit and you can really do anything you want. How To Secure Pedals To A DIY Pedalboard NYC Pedalboards was founded by Mike Rustin out of sheer necessity. Rustin played bass in a band in New York, and the guitar player in his band had tons of pedals but no pedalboard. This company is also the official pedalboard manufacturer for RJM, Music Lab, The Gig Rig, and BOSS. Custom Pedal Boards has established four pillars as the basis for what they offer: Transportation, ergonomics, functionality, and reliability. Creating your own DIY guitar pedalboard will make it simple to transport your rig whilst allowing you to cable manage things cleaning up your floor space to really focus on what you’re doing. The main pedalboard power supplies that I’ve personally used (through friends or my own boards) are below: T-Rex Fuel Tank (Currently On My Board)

The Pedalboard XL is perfect for gigging musicians and studio engineers who need more space to accommodate all their pedals. It has a sturdy design that keeps your pedals safe and secure while traveling. The Pedalboard XXL is made of high-quality materials and has many great features. The form factor makes it easy to take with you at all times, even when traveling. It comes with a carrying and shoulder strap making it a perfect choice for any guitarist who needs their pedals nearby. CASE: Are you going to need a case? Sheeesh…, another blog segment… Suffice to say, there are many options for that, we have 3 case versions that we offer; we can make them for all sizes and shapes and brands of pedalboard. We have a section of DIY parts dedicated to case building, and I promise a segment on case building coming very soon…Some people rely solely on 9-volt batteries to power their pedalboards, but if you’re looking for a solution that’s a little more effective in the long run, you really need a good power supply. We wanted to make the cut-outs in the pedalboards as neat as possible, so we made a router template from a scrap piece of MDF to use with a bearing bit. It took a little extra time, but we think the end result is worth it. Be very careful when working with routers, though.
