If you have a problem with fallout or iron particles from your brake pads soiling your wheels, you’re gonna need to use the best iron remover for the job. The solution was easily sprayed onto the wheels and needed time to soak into the baked-on brake dust. To simply leave and rinse in all fairness would not completely clean off any long term “baked on” brake dust and I would be forced to re-apply or work hard with a soft brush to break under the sealed layer of brake pad debris. The “debris” is caused by a build-up of fine brake pad particles. Under the heat of braking, these particles get baked onto the alloy surface. At first, this isn’t too noticeable, but over time it’ll start to show up as a dark grey film known as iron fallout which is nearly impossible to wash off with car shampoo. Despite its claim for low odour, it does still have the unique iron remover odour so take this claim with a pinch of salt..and peg!

Like most other formulas, rinse off or even wash off any other dirt from the affected surface making it easy to see the contamination. Then spray enough fallout remover to wet the surface and watch the surface turn purple and ‘bleed’. There are sufficient warnings on the bottle to indicate that the PRO-KLEEN product is corrosive and harmful to the eyes and skin, so always consider the direction and strength of the wind when applying. Dragon’s Breath causes a chemical reaction that forces the iron particles contained in brake dust and road grime to change state from solid to water. As the gel begins to work particles in the iron turn a dark red/purple and can then be wiped away, rinsed or jetted washed off. It’s so effective you’ll see results even on seemingly clean surfaces. Unlike claying or polishing Dragon’s Breath stops the spread of iron particles beneath the surface, rather than simply removing the iron particles.Even if you are using clay bars and polishes the use of an iron remover to remover fallout is vital as it removes the source of the problem by removing the oxidised metal from below the surface; somewhere clay bars can’t reach.

Pro-Kleen Troll's Breath is an Iron-Contamination remover that is safe to use on all lacquered paint work, chrome, glass, plastic, stainless steel, wheels and even rubber, that has a specialcolour indicator! Once the Troll's Breathhas activated the clear gel solution will start to turn purple as soon as it begins to break down the iron contamination. Bilberry Wheel Cleaner is our alkaline wheel cleaner with a neat pH of 13.56, making it an extremely strong but effective wheel cleaner with great dilution ratios. We only recommend this to be used on painted or lacquered wheels. Do note that since it is an alkaline, any coating or sealants/waxes will be stripped upon use; Dragon’s Breath would be the better choice to maintain your protection. Usually I'd clean the wheels in the manner I said above and then seal them and use ph-neutral wheel cleaner as part of the regular maintenance wash routine, only using fallout remover every 6 months or so.
