About this deal

The PreSonus Eris E5 monitors come with 4 thin foam pads which help to stop acoustic energy transferring into the desk. This helps to tighten up the bass, avoiding a muddy and unfocused sound. Good response down to around 65 Hz (higher than the advertised 53), so you'll need a sub if you want any sub-bass. Response is exaggerated by 5-10 dB from 65-450 Hz, resulting in noticeably exaggerated bass. It's quite flat after that, resulting in a very clean non-bass sound. Ideally, the tweeters should be inline with your ears. That’s not always practical for desktop speakers. But you may be able to angle them upwards, so they point to your ears, with ‘ angle isolation pads‘. These will also help to stop bass vibrations from rattling your desk, and muddying the sound.

I use them in untreated 12-20 square meter rooms, volume wise there is no way you will ever need more volume than they can provide even if you want to throw a small party in the house (50 square meters). Here's What Presonus Say About the Eris E5 XT Studio Monitor Our best-selling studio monitors just got better. With their smooth, accurate frequency response; powerful amplification with tons of headroom; and acoustic tuning functions that ensure you always get the best sound... it's no wonder that the original Eris®-series studio monitors have been a runaway hit since their introduction. The Eris E5 XT is a substantial update to a lauded classic. Deeper lows and a wider, more controlled sweet spot (thanks to its new EBM wave guide design) mean that our best-selling studio monitors just got even better. Studio speakers with a wide sweet spot. All in all, sorry but no, the E5's are not the "bestest" of all, there is no such thing. They are VERY balanced and sure a pair of HS5's (more mid and high heavy in my opinion) or 305's (somewhere between the E5's and HS5's in my opinion) may suit you more but those have the best balance for what I do.Flexible input options let you connect almost any line-level source, from mixers to audio interfaces and more. Eris E5 XT monitors provide balanced XLR, balanced ¼-inch TRS, and unbalanced RCA line-level inputs. You'll have no problem hooking your Eris speakers up to virtually anything. Built from vinyl-finished MDF, the internally braced cabinets measure a compact 178 x 195 x 260 mm and weigh a reassuring 4.63kg each. The slot-shaped port is located on the baffle below the woofer, while the baffle is curved and slightly sculpted around the drivers to smooth out any sharp angles that might otherwise result in diffraction. A discrete PreSonus logo illuminates when the speakers are switched on. Suitable for both home recording studios and professional mix engineering, Eris XT studio monitors combine sterling audio quality with the flexible tuning and connectivity you've come to expect from PreSonus. The Eris E5 XT is a substantial update to a lauded classic. Deeper lows and a wider, more controlled sweet spot, thanks to its EBM waveguide design, mean that our best-selling studio monitors just got even better. I have an issue that is driving me batty. I've owned quite a few active studio monitors and bookshelf speakers, including models from Edifier, Swans, JBL, Dayton Audio, Kanto, and now Presonus. Suitable for both home recording studios and professional production, Eris E5 studio monitors combine sterling audio quality with the flexible tuning and connectivity you've come to expect from PreSonus®.

The custom-designed EBM (Elliptical Boundary Modeled) waveguide provides superior high-frequency response and wider 100-degree horizontal dispersion to create a broader sweet spot. Narrow vertical dispersion reduces reflections from your desk. Silk-dome tweeters ensure snappy, accurate transient reproduction. This is a low shelving control with a corner frequency of 800 Hz, that can either be set flat, -2 dB or -4 dB. You can use this to compensate for the bass reinforcing boundary effect when studio monitors are placed close to walls and corners. We were impressed at the quality of these affordable monitors and expect them to be a popular option, especially for content creators." Before we really dig into the details of this PreSonus Eris E5 review, it’s helpful to explore what actually makes a good studio monitor. The truth is that there’s no objective standard for the “best” near-field monitors, so part of the process always comes down to personal preference. Still, there are a few important things you should consider. The PreSonus Eris 5 monitors are solid performers. There’s a depth of detail and clarity that you’d normally associate with studio monitors at a much higher price point.

Documentation

Bringing my hand close to the ribbon cable increases the hum significantly, while gripping the cable and touching the signal ground eliminates it completely. The PreSonus Eris E5 monitors are designed for small spaces, where too much bass would be detrimental to the sound. There’s no point in having the lowest sub-bass if you’re in a small room. The lower frequency sounds would become cluttered and messy. You’d have no way of hearing an accurate representation of your music.
