About this deal

When the Witch Doctor first appears, his skull staff has grass on it. But then for the rest of the episode, there is no grass on the staff. One in-universe explanation could be that the first time the Witch Doctor was seen it was actually Mr. Simms's henchman. Mr. Simms's could've removed the grass once he took over.

This episode is adapted into the third level of the N64 version of Scooby-Doo! Classic Creep Capers. Scooby-Doo, Where Are You!: The Complete Third Season DVD set released by Warner Home Video on April 10, 2007. The Indian Witch Doctor was the first monster to kidnap Daphne Blake and hold her prisoner; the Phantom in Hassle in the Castle failed to do so, successfully. When the gang is first seen in the Mystery Machine to go find Scooby, Shaggy is seen with a map in his hand, but in the next scene it disappears from his hands. This is the second episode, after Decoy for a Dognapper, to a have a witch doctor as the primary villain.

Although the ghostly appearance of Geronimo is left a mystery till the end, the fact the witch doctor is simply one of the dognappers is established early on.

The first time Mike's van is shown creating lots of exhaust, an outline of the Mystery Machine is used to create the van, with the silhouette of Fred behind the wheel modified to include Mike's hat. Later on after the real Mystery Machine starts pursuing the dognappers, Mike's silhouette depicts a different hat. Maybe it’s so people don’t mistake him for Fred.

He and his boss wanted to scare people away so they wouldn't discover their pearl poaching operation. He posed as the Witch Doctor at the luau to warn people to stay away and fabricate an alibi for Simms. He then posed as Mano Tiki Tia while Simms took over as the Witch Doctor. What century do the townsfolk think they are living in? Their behavior, speech, and mannerisms were greatly exaggerated to resemble real 17th-century Puritans.
