When it comes to low-light performance, both the Canon EOS R6 and Sony A7 IV are capable of producing good-quality images in challenging lighting conditions. The R5 is capable of recording 8K video at 30 frames per second and 4K video at up to 120 frames per second. The higher resolution sensor of the Sony A7 IV also gives you more leeway to crop your photos and offers a better dynamic range. There is also a mechanical difference in the image stabilisation between these cameras with the Canon R6 in-body stabilisation built in the body rather than the Sony A7 IV having stabilisation built around the sensor. A menu option lets you decide which settings carry over from stills to video and which maintain independent values. You can choose between three lens views: the default Wide (16-34mm), Max SuperView (middle ground), and the Max HyperView (the extremest view). The α7 IV supports S-Cinetone, based on expertise gained through development of the VENICE CineAlta camera. This look is responsible for the beautiful skin tones for which Cinema Line cameras like the FX9, FX6 and FX3 are widely acclaimed. It delivers natural mid-tones for healthy-looking skin colour, plus soft colours and gorgeous highlights. Because it’s in-camera, it’s easy to create a more expressive look for your movie imagery without post-editing.

The length of time to record without interruption or overheating is very important to the videographer so they can continue creating.The a7 IV's extensive customization and power come at the cost of complexity, though. Once you've explored the camera and configured it the way you want, you can ignore much of what lurks in the menus and just get out and shoot. But the ability to define virtually every behavior can be overwhelming. Even as an experienced enthusiast shooter, it was the simplicity of the AF system I appreciated much more than the extensive (excessive?) level of customization the camera offers.
