About this deal

As of today, all popular Android devices branded Samsung, LG, Motorola, Google Nexus, HTC, Huawei, Sony, Lenovo, Xiaomi and more, use this standard. USB outputs are usually found on microphones intended for use with computers and mobile devices, like the RØDE NT-USB and NT-USB Mini, VideoMic Me range or Wireless GO II. The SC20 is a USB-C to USB-A cable used for connecting the Wireless GO II to a USB-A device. It is shorter than the 1.5m-long SC18 and is only included with the Wireless GO II (not sold separately). SC21 – Lightning Accessory Cable (USB-C to Lightning, 300mm) To help you decide which one is right for you, we’ve put together the ultimate RØDE cable and adaptor guide, so you can get recording in no time.

The SC10 is a TRRS to TRRS cable designed to connect the VideoMic NTG (which has an auto-sensing TRS/TRRS output) to cameras or mobile devices, but can be used with any TRRS device. A TRRS or Tip Ring Ring Sleeve plug has four conductors and is very popular with 3.5mm, and can be used with stereo unbalanced audio with video… or with stereo unbalanced audio plus a mono microphone conductor. The TRRS connector is extremely popular with smartphones and tablets, and to some degree with computers, including Chromebooks and Macs. Unfortunately, there are two conflicting standards associated with its use with stereo unbalanced audio plus a mono microphone conductor. The adapter cable will automatically disable the inline microphone that may be present on your earphones or headphones. The adapter cable ensures that the recorded sound comes solely from the Shure MOTIV device and not the microphone of your earphones or headset. By connecting two at a time, I found out that the yellow and white connectors together get very noisy and weak signal. Now this is where I was surprised: using both red and yellow or red and white gives me a clear signal, although not as powerful as I get when connecting a computer's sound output to the same sound system (using s TRS-TRS setup). Splitters are useful when it’s not enough to connect just one device to your smartphone. Thankfully, Movo has you covered with our range of TRRS Y-splitters. The TCB1 plugs into your smartphone with a TRRS connector, but branches out into 3.5mm TRS inputs for both mics and headphones.

Here are some permitted and prohibited combinations. This is not considered to be complete. Permitted connection Actually, the cable adapter (shown above) that Shure is including with many new digital MOTIV devices solves two problems at once. Here I will paraphrase Shure’s explanation from the user manual:

The SC11 is a TRS splitter cable for connecting two mono outputs to a single stereo input. It is particularly suitable for connecting two microphones to a camera, for example, dual Wireless GO receivers, or a Wireless GO and a VideoMic. SC15 – Lightning Accessory Cable (USB-C to Lightning) Ok, let’s dive into our wide range of cables for all your connection needs. SC1 – TRRS Extension Cable (6m) Most microphones have either a 3.5mm, USB or XLR audio output (or a combination of these)for connectingthemto different devices. The SC7 is a TRS to TRRS patch cable, designed to allow microphones with a 3.5mm TRS output, such a RØDE VideoMic or Wireless GO, to connect to devices with a TRRS input like a computer or mobile device. SC8 – 3.5mm TRS to TRS cable (6m) The SC18 is a USB-C to USB-A cable. At1.5-metres long, it’s ideal for connecting USB-C devices such as the NT-USB Mini or RØDECaster Pro to devices with a USB-A input. SC19 – Lightning Accessory Cable (USB-C to Lightning)

USB-C – USB-C is a more versatile connection than USB-A in several ways. It allows for a faster data transfer rate, as well as a higher power link, meaning faster charging and the ability to run more power-hungry devices. USB-C connectors are also smaller than USB-A. They are increasingly utilised in computers and mobile devices, as well as microphones and other audio devices. The SC22 is a 300mm USB-C to USB-C cable which is included with the AI-Micro. Similar to the SC16, it is suitable for connecting RØDE microphones and devices with a USB-C output to USB-C compatible devices such as smartphones or tablets. VC1 – 3.5mm TRS Extension Cable (3m)Even more surprising to me: by connecting the free male RCA connector to any of the two connected ones, I get a huge boost in power (though not in all frequencies). I realize this is just shorting out two channels, right?
