Each of the HDMI inputs feature their own dedicated standards converter. That means ATEM Mini will automatically convert 1080p, 1080i and 720p sources to the switcher video standard! By default the switcher will set its video format automatically, however you can also set the switcher to any video standard! The HDMI outputs are a true "aux" output so you can clean switch each HDMI input to the output. You can even "direct" switch input 1 to the HDMI output for low latency eSport productions. Plus the ATEM Mini Extreme models support 2 low latency direct loops! On the more powerful ATEM Mini Pro and ATEM Mini Extreme models, the HDMI output can be selected to display a full multiview! Get dramatically better business presentations on Skype because ATEM Mini makes Skype see it as a webcam, so you can select it in the Skype settings! One camera can be a close up, another for a wide shot and a computer for PowerPoint presentations. The presenter can even use picture in picture! One area here that would have been nice would have been assigning the overlay to a single HDMI input. Connecting cameras and mics to the ATEM Mini Extreme is identical to the rest of the range. Connect in the HDMI cables from the cameras, plugin the mics and you’re done. The ATEM Mini Pro ISO and Extreme ISO models allow you to edit your live event as they can record multiple video streams, including clean feeds of all inputs and program, all at the same time! Media pool images used are also saved with the video files. The video files include metadata tags such as synced timecode and camera numbers. Imagine re-editing your show with new color grades, effects and graphics! Even the audio sources are all recorded so you can professionally remix your audio!The Extreme builds on this, offering the ability to Multicam up to eight video inputs in real-time. There were and still are cheaper switchers designed for the home, however, their function is often limited to simple switches and fades.

The workflow was seamless and easy to understand, the only errors being when I switched to the wrong camera. Open up any streaming app such as Zoom, select ATEM Extreme from the webcam list and the ATEM Extreme will then act as a webcam. This is where the 16 multiview options come in; you have your eight HDMI feeds from cameras and or media players, then the rest show status, those graphic overlays and audio monitors.As there are two compared with the small ATEM Mini’s on you have the choice of how you use the two ports. Used as a direct webcam connection, the ATEM with cameras and media devices connected through HDMI is simple and easy to understand.
