Controls : Decay, (Strings) Ensemble : Off / Moderate (mezzo piano) / Strong (forte), Mix, Pre-Delay, Tone, Modulation. Sometimes a single pedal can be transformative, allowing your tone to bloom in a way that draws music out of you effortlessly and keeps you engaged for hours on end.The simple look and feel of Cloudburst belies the power underneath the hood, because it produces some of the most gorgeous ambient reverb tones and soundscapes that you’ve ever heard out of a guitar reverb pedal – there’s literally nothing else quite like it.Sometimes a single pedal can be transformative, allowing your tone to bloom in a way that draws music out of you effortlessly and keeps you engaged for hours on end.

Brig users can set the pedal's tap divisions and tempo by holding the footswitch for one second; the Time control then selects between divisions of triplet, eighth, dotted eighths and quarter notes. (Image credit: Strymon) This ability to tweak and customize your sound is what sets the Strymon Cloudburst apart from other reverb pedals on the market. Whether you’re looking to add a subtle touch of reverb or create a complex soundscape, Cloudburst gives you the flexibility to do so. The range of controls and features in the pedal allows you to shape your sound in many different ways, making it a great choice for musicians looking for a highly tweakable reverb pedal. With the tap tempo footswitch, you can add rhythmic elements to your sound, making the Cloudburst a great choice for musicians who want to incorporate percussive elements into their sound. The expression pedal input also gives you even more control over your sound, allowing you to adjust the reverb in real time as you play. Design People are already calling Ensemble the new shimmer – in that other makers may now look to integrate their own take on it for pedal designs. But the reality is it is much more nuanced and wider in scope once you start to explore it in different scenarios. But first, what is it?

Less and more

New Ensemble mode for instant string-like organic pads and soundscapes that organically follow your playing. Decay: Controls the decay time of the reverberated signal. Lower settings reduce the size of the reverberated space. Expression pedal input allows the connection of a TRS expression pedal, MiniSwitch, MultiSwitch Plus, or TRS MIDI connection.

In addition, we wanted to provide a whole new variety of sounds never before heard from a reverb pedal, which we accomplished in part with the addition of our new Ensemble effect. Ensemble’s design ensures a natural and artifact-free interaction between the reverb and your guitar signal, so with the switch in its mezzo piano (or “moderately soft”) position, it can subtly enhance the character of the reverberated signal, while it can yield huge string ensemble effects reminiscent of vintage polyphonic “string machine” synthesizers when set to forte . You should get an instant answer on whether your application has been successful, though in some rare cases Klarna or V12 may need to look at the application in more detail.

Immersive Soundscapes - Incredibly authentic, the Strymon Cloudburst delivers elevated ambient reverb that's bound to cater for everything from lush guitar leads to drone-like synths. Utilising cutting-edge algorithms and a 24-bit 96kHz AD/DA, 520MHz 32-bit floating ARM Superscalar processor, the result is an intricately detailed reflection and reverb tails without needing too much juice on pedalboards. In addition to these in-depth videos, the Strymon team also showcases their great work culture by sharing a staff jam video. Clearly, the Strymon team is passionate about their work and loves creating innovative guitar pedals. And with their commitment to quality and their desire to help guitarists get the most out of their pedals, it’s no wonder that the Strymon group is one of the most respected names in the guitar effects world. Finally, we wanted to create a pedal that was the most simple and intuitive to use of any product we’d ever designed. So, with Cloudburst, there are no secondary or “ hidden ” functions. The pedal is controlled by just a few knobs and a switch exactly as they are labeled, so you can instantly dial up the perfect sound with no learning curve required. All the premium components, sound quality, and roadworthiness you expect from a Strymon reverb pedal are in Cloudburst’s new compact format. It’s got our discrete JFET analog front end, ultra-quiet 116dB signal-to-noise performance, a powerful ARM Superscalar processor, stereo input/output, and full MIDI control. Featuring unbeatable ease of use and producing some of the finest reverb sounds we’ve ever created, Cloudburst could easily be the only reverb pedal you need on your pedalboard. Strymon products are pricey but often prove to be a long-term investment for players. And Strymon’s reverb pedals probably typify this quality/payoff relationship best.

Ensemble

The Ensemble switch is another exciting feature of the Cloudburst. It opens up a world of previously unheard, captivating sounds that respond dynamically to your guitar signal. Whether you want to add harmonically rich, ethereal dimensions to your ambient soundscapes or hear a lush synthetic string section enhance your guitar playing, this switch has got you covered. Unleash your creative potential with the versatile Strymon Cloudburst Reverb Pedal As drive pedals go, this is a grand design, a stompbox whose evolution could only be driven by the mythos surrounding the legendary Klon Centaur, and the variant tonal qualities of the NOS germanium diode. Mix does just as you’d expect, going from 100% dry to 100% wet, unless set up in Dry Kill mode, but the real secret weapon is the three‑way Ensemble switch at the top of the panel, which can be off or set to one of two intensities. This isn’t based on conventional ensemble effects that use multi‑layered chorus and so on, but rather it brings in some additional harmonics that sound almost synth‑like. There are hints of octave‑up and an increase in harmonic density and richness, but this is no conventional shimmer reverb either. Apparently the effect is achieved by splitting the signal into 48 frequency bands and then new harmonics and partials are generated based on these frequencies. (The closest technology I can think of is Roland’s HRM harmonic modelling, used in the Boss SY‑series guitar synths and VG guitar pedals.) Sets the amount of time before the reverberated signal appears. For most natural results, use lower MIX settings when using higher PRE-DELAY.
