About this deal

EcoAir produce a range of excellent dehumidifiers for the UK market. In fact, the company features five times on our list of the top 10 dehumidifiers - more than any other brand. A few days later, Óisín and two fellow electricians arrived and commissioned the entire system in under 6 hours. Once again, we could not speak highly enough of their professionalism, advice and help, even installing monitoring apps on our phones, and explaining everything in detail to us. Spending more money doesn't necessarily mean you're getting a higher quality dehumidifier. In many cases, more expensive models include extra features rather than an ability to extract water faster. Digital Display - The dehumidifier has a large humidistat display, digital controls and a colour indicator which shows the humidity level (blue for 40%, green for 50% and red for 60%). Even the quietest dehumidifier can't claim to be silent - at least if it uses electricity. Manufacturers often describe machines as having "silent" modes, but in reality this means they have a setting to reduce sound output.

The EcoAir Summit S is a refrigerant dehumidifier with excellent water extraction at room temperature or above. It has a maximum extraction rate of 12 litres per day and two fan settings depending on your requirements. Compact Design - Compact portable dehumidifier with max 12 Litres/day extraction rate. 2 litre water tank capacity with continuous drainage option, concealed easy glide castor wheels and washable air filter. I cannot speak highly enough of ECOAER and our experience with them. I would unreservedly and wholeheartedly recommend them to anyone considering installing a solar pv system.

Summary

As a desiccant model with an 8 litre per day capacity, the Zambezi is more effective incooler temperatures than refrigerant models. At 10 degrees Celsius, for example, it's able to extract up to 7.5 litre per day depending on humidity. This makes it suitable for garages, conservatories and other cooler areas. Other features include an "overdry" protection mechanism, to stop the air getting too dry, and a spot function if you want to dry a specific area. It's also very quiet at just 34dB.

Other features include automatic shut-off when the water tank is full, a continuous drainage option and three options for humidity control. There are also two fan settings and a laundry function. Emptying the tank is simple, although you'll need to replace the filter every 4-6 months. In addition, the air purifier uses a five stage system to control odours and remove allergens. This includes charcoal, anti-allergy and ionisation stages. If you or someone in your household suffers from allergies, the air purifier could help relieve symptoms. We also like how the charcoal and deodouriser stagesreduce nasty odours that can build up in homes. Non-electric dehumidifiers use passive processes to remove water from the air. As you might imagine, this is much less effective than an electric dehumidifier. Most use some sort of desiccant, or drying, material. Some can only be used once, while others can be dried in the microwave and re-used. The biggest downsides to this dehumidifier are that it's heavy and relatively noisy. These issues are a direct consequence of the dehumidifier's fast moisture extraction though. So, if you need to remove a lot of water from the air, the trade-off is worth it. It does, however, include an automatic mode that switches off the machine when the ambient humidity and temperature are at acceptable levels. This is a great time saver and can also reduce your energy bills.

Specification

Dehumidifiers prevent damp and mould by reducing humidity in your home, garage, caravan or boat. A relative humidity of around 40-50% is considered healthy. A dehumidifier can maintain this environment in your home. While it's not the quietest model on the market, its noise output on lower settings is acceptable if you're in the same room. It's also not great at removing water from the air of cooler environments. We wouldn't recommend it for garages or conservatories. As we mentioned, it uses peltier technology instead of desiccant or refrigerant. This technology, also known as thermo-electric, uses electricity to create a temperature difference and drive dehumidification. While peltier dehumidifiers struggle for efficiency, they are usually very quiet. Multi-Layer Filter - An advanced filter cleanses the air, removing odours from cooking for example. The filter consists of three layers, namely carbon, nylon and polyethylene terephthalate. Water Drainage - Water can either be drained continuously via a tube, or be drained into a 2 litre water tank. If the tank is full, the dehumidifier will automatically switch itself off.

Other features include a control panel to adjust your desired humidity (35%-85%), a continuous dehumidificationmode and "silent" mode for night use. The Inventor also has a 24 hour timer and an optional continuous drainage output. It consumes 200W when on the continuous mode and has an auto-restart function. A dehumidifier will not get rid of mould that's already inside your property. It can, however, prevent it from returning after treatment. It's not all positive though. The DC202 is one of the loudest EcoAir dehumidifiers, so you probably won't want to use it in bedrooms. It's also one of the more expensive EcoAir machines. EcoAir specialise in products for managing air quality. They produce a number of products, including dehumidifiers and air conditioning units. With a 10 litre capacity, the DD322 probably isn't powerful enough to be a whole home dehumidifier unless you have a maximum of 2-3 bedrooms. The good news is that it only weighs 8.5kg, so it's relatively easy to move between rooms when needed.

As it's designed to be compact and lightweight, the dehumidifier has a relatively small 2 litre water tank. It also has a maximum extraction rate of 7.5 litres per day when on maximum fan speed and with laundry mode enabled (650W). This makes it less suitable for larger homes. It's also fantastic at removing water from the air. As it's a desiccant model, it excels at room temperature or below. For drying out a few rooms at the same time, the DD322 Classic is an excellent option.
