Known as adventure golf, the course along the seafront in Hastings is actually 3 championship miniature golf courses rolled into one! There’s too many to choose from here, but all of them boast plenty of character and some great pints! Full of cobbled streets, independent shops, quirky artifacts, traditional fish and chip bars, along with vintage stores and the odd trendy restaurant or café, this is a stunning spot you can easily get lost in for a few hours. The other thing that everyone eats when they come to Hastings is sweets- there’s heaps of vintage-esque sweet stores here with tons of bright, colourful, sugary treats in jars many find hard to refuse! But now we turn from the beach to the sea, and it’s time to learn about the seafaring history of this town and some of its unfortunate tales. From things to do in Hastings that require some physical energy, we now move to a rather more sedate activity, and that is visiting the wonderful Hastings Contemporary. An amazing spot to enjoy the sun, the sand and the sea, this quiet corner is a peaceful retreat and finding this beautiful, chilled spot was certainly one of my favourite things to do in Hastings. When all the scientists leave for the day, Elizabeth stays in the lab to do her own experiments. When she needs ribose and the lab is out of it, she goes to Calvin's lab and takes some.

One of the special things about this fortification is that it was started immediately after William the Conqueror landed, and before the Battle of Hastings even took place. In the cliffs in front of Pelham Beach is a hard-hitting museum for grown-ups with a fascination for the darkest side of humanity. One morning Calvin comes running into the lab, sweaty and excited. He shuts the door without thinking and starts excitedly telling Elizabeth about a breakthrough idea. Elizabeth freezes. She asks him, with panic in her voice, to open the door. He keeps talking about his epiphany and doesn't seem to hear her. She rushes past him, flings open the door and leaves. She tells Calvin working together was a mistake and disappears down the hall. Elizabeth feels unsure about his optimism, but it’s the best option she has, so she accepts. Working together is a learning curve, but they seem to be strong partners. 2. Battle Abbey

The battlefield and its abbey are only 15 minutes by road or train, while there’s an award-winning pier, museums, art galleries and light-hearted family attractions to keep you in town for at least a day. The older of the two is the 150-metre West Hill Lift, which opened in 1891 and serves Hastings Castle and St Clements Caves. Like all piers it has been susceptible to the elements, and suffered storm damage in 1990 and then a fire in 2010, which took out 95% of the structure. The wonderfully quaint old quarter, in Hastings’ easternmost valley follows a cosy Medieval layout and has remnants of a wall raised in the 14th century during the 100 Years’ War. The Crime Lab has games for wannabe forensic scientists, and there’s also a surround sound cinema with authentic recorded confessions by some of the most notorious serial killers. 14.
