About this deal

Enjoy the joys of cycling at home with the Schwinn Airdyne AD6 Dual Action Air Cycle. This air bike is powered by a friction-less ABS plastic fan and is driven by dual-stage super-torque drive belts. The high contrast display on the AD2 is pretty simple, but it performs its job well with key data readouts including speed, distance, calories burned, time and revolutions per minute all displayed in real time. The screen performs well even in direct sunlight.

Nonetheless, it does have display readouts for the user’s speed, distance, calories burned, time, and RPM. It is shown on the simple LCD placed in between the handles. The seat is anatomically correct and provides great comfort with its extra padding. It will make a significant dent in your wallet but offers premium quality in droves, going toe to toe with some of the best bikes on the market. You’ll enjoy working out on this Airbike as you can simultaneously watch videos, use your phone, or follow an online workout video, all thanks to its convenient phone/tablet/iPad holder. It even has a water bottle holder attached, so you won’t have to go down whenever you need to refuel yourself.

The mainly steel frame offers good durability and with built-in levelers, as well as enhanced structural support, the AD Pro is stable on those flat-out sprints. Moisture-repellent technology fends off sweat during those tougher sessions too. The Airdyne Pro also features the first belt drive system on any air bike ever produced. Belt drives have been used for a little while on bicycles with great results, but this is the first time I’ve seen it in this type of application. Basically, rather than using your typical link chain, the bike uses a heavy-duty rubber belt often seen in cars. This allows for a few things:

Compare to Similar Products

Most of them will have an infinite level of resistance because it will all depend on how fast you pedal. But some can be controlled or adjusted through tension knobs or something similar. Other products may have a different way of controlling it. But you will most likely enjoy that offer of unlimited resistance as it’ll challenge you even more. But if you’re looking for something controllable then you may want to opt for an airbike with manual settings. Footrest It’s an air bike that you’ll often see in commercial gyms and fitness studios, so that should give you an idea of its pedigree. I was unable to test the heart rate display on the AD8 as I tend to use wrist-based heart-rate monitors. The Airdyne AD8 (and less expensive AD6i) allow you to pair with a telemetric Polar compatible 4.5kHz – 5.5kHz chest strap transmitter. The transmitter will automatically pair and once you enter your age you’ll see what zones you need to stay in for ‘fat burn’, ‘aerobic’ and ‘anerobic’ workouts. You can also switch between current, average and max bpm. Again this trumps the Wattbike Classic, which can’t be used with heart rate monitors. The SCHWINN AD7 Airdyne Bike is a higher model compared to the AD2—the first product on our list. It’s more heavy-duty and offers more innovative features. To start, it caters to a heavier weight capacity of almost 160 kg. The seat is adjustable both in height and distance. Schwinn is well-known for its user-friendly technology and this air bike’s minimalist console certainly lives up to the brand’s reputation. With a high-resolution LCD display, users can stay clued up on fitness stats including speed, time, RPM, RevMeter™, distance and power and pulse in real-time.

For most, the footrest will look similar to the ones you see on regular bikes—cylindrical. But you might feel more comfortable having a flat footrest to give your feet complete rest while still working out. Nevertheless, it will all boil down to the personal preference of each user. Multiple-Grip HandlebarsThe saddle is worthy of particular mention as it has a good amount of padding which makes it comfortable to sit on for longer than your average saddle. The pedals and the foot grips are also particularly well made and make you feel perfectly secure with no risk of your feet slipping. At the premium end of the market, you'll get more extensive exercise performance metrics and data-driven sessions care of an LCD display or Bluetooth app pairings. Like all equipment, the more you're willing to pay, the greater features and experience you’ll get. A comfortable seat, foot pads for your rest periods or upper-body isolation intervals should be a minimum requirement when sourcing an air bike. If you take care of it with regular servicing, you’re almost guaranteed a lifetime of lung-pumping workouts to look forward to. What workouts can you do on an air bike? If you can’t tell, I’m a fan of the Schwinn Airdyne Pro. There are still things I’d like to see improved. I think it’s too difficult to access the inner workings of the bike for maintenance and although I don’t know if it’s even possible, it would be cool to have quieter bikes. It is entirely possible to sit on the Schwinn Airdyne AD8 and casually rotate the legs for an hour while watching television, but it's not really advised. You're better off with a standard recumbent bike, turbo trainer or exercise bike for that sort of thing. The two year parts and labour warranty provide peace of mind and anyone looking for a high-quality home cardio machine that should stand the test of time could do worse than consider this excellent offering from Schwinn.
