About this deal

In general, use 3–6 drops of essential oil per 1 teaspoon (5 ml) of carrier oil for adults. This is considered a 2–4% dilution. For children, use 1 drop of essential oil per 1 teaspoon (5 ml) of carrier oil, which is a 1% dilution.

Myrrh is mentioned in the New Testament as one of the three gifts (with gold and frankincense) that the magi "from the East" presented to the Christ Child ( Matthew 2:11). Myrrh was also present at Jesus' death and burial. Jesus was offered wine and myrrh at his crucifixion ( Mark 15:23). According to John's Gospel, Nicodemus and Joseph of Arimathea brought a 100-pound mixture of myrrh and aloes to wrap Jesus' body ( John 19:39). The Gospel of Matthew relates that as Jesus went to the cross, he was given vinegar to drink mingled with gall: and when he had tasted thereof, he would not drink (Matthew 27:34); the Gospel of Mark describes the drink as wine mingled with myrrh (Mark 15:23). Myrrh is mentioned as a rare perfume in several places in the Hebrew Bible. In Genesis 37:25, the traders to whom Jacob's sons sold their brother Joseph had " camels ... loaded with spices, balm, and myrrh," and Exodus 30:23–25 specifies that Moses was to use 500 shekels of liquid myrrh as a core ingredient of the sacred anointing oil. When taken by mouth: Myrrh is commonly consumed in foods as a flavoring agent. Myrrh is possibly safe when used as medicine in doses of 400 mg three times daily for up to 12 months. It's usually well-tolerated. But taking large doses of myrrh is possibly unsafe. Doses greater than 2-4 grams can cause kidney problems and heart rate changes. Breast-feeding: There isn't enough reliable information to know if myrrh is safe to use when breast-feeding. Stay on the safe side and avoid use.

Antidiabetic drugs: Myrrh has demonstrated the ability to lower blood sugar levels. Use caution in individuals also receiving antidiabetic medications, especially those that can lead to hypoglycemia. Careful monitoring of blood glucose is warranted.( al-Awadi 1991, Hanus 2005)

The utilization of herbs for medicinal purposes has dramatically increased worldwide. Further research is required to clearly determine the various properties of these herbs, their optimal doses, forms, and their adverse effects and toxicity. Other factors should be also considered, such as the type, size, and location of the wound, as well as vascular supply, infection, and other conditions that might complicate the healing process. When people prone to headaches took a multi-ingredient supplement containing myrrh’s pain-relieving compounds, their headache pain was reduced by about two-thirds during the six-month study ( 23).

A study conducted at the Beni-Suef University in Egypt found that Myrrh can actually detoxify what the liver cannot – in particular, ammonia. When the liver cannot remove harmful substances sufficiently, they build up in the bloodstream. For example, ammonia, a by-product of protein digestion, needs to be converted into urea in the liver and eliminated via the kidneys. Accumulation of ammonia in the blood, called hyperammonaemia, is toxic to nerves and can lead to a decline of brain functions known as hepatic encephalopathy.
