About this deal

This WiFi access point sends a 2.4GHz WiFi signal, which allows our Green Feathers cameras to easily connect to it, as well as any other WiFi devices that have compatibility issues with 5GHz devices.

Why not try one of our 3rd Gen WiFi bird box cameras, just remember to connect the phone to the access point! If that works, then you should be able to connect the camera directly to the ethernet port on the Wi-Fi extender and have it connected to the internet. If the camera hasn't been set up previously, you should connect it directly to your internet router first so it can automatically configure itself, then connect it to the extender. Once your device was properly connected. The Comfast Wi-Fi repeater hitch attachment is known as Home Network PLUS. Reset the extender by pressing and holding the reset button for 10 seconds using a paper clip or pin.Once you’ve successfully linked your extender and router, get a wireless device that can connect to the extender WiFi. If the link LED is OFF, the extender failed to connect to the router Wi-Fi network, please repeat steps 1-3 to try again.

When you plug the extender into a new outlet, a green light (sometimes amber colored light) will indicate that you have a good connection with your wifi router. A red light means you need to get closer the router. You may need to do this a few times before you find an optimal distance. Make sure you set up the WiFi access point inside first and confirm it is working, and only mount it in the intended position when you have verified that it provides a connection to the internet. Now take a look at the range extender’s app. At the moment, we’ve got the range extender positioned about halfway between our main router and our home office where the Wi-Fi signal tends to be a bit weak. Your wifi router may have a button for a 5GHz band. If it does, you will probably want to utilize this as it is “less congested” and is not as affected by wireless interferences as much as 2.4GHz. One downside to 5GHz is that it has a tendency to have range issues now and then, but placement can decrease the likelihood of interruptions in your wifi performance. Plug the extender into the wall, then plug the Ethernet cable into both the extender and your computer. Alternately, disconnect from your home Wi-Fi network and connect directly to the extender. Note that in both cases you’ll temporarily lose web connection. If there’s a switch on the side of your extender, make sure it’s set to “Extender” mode, not “AP” or “Access Point.” (AP is for connecting directly to your modem, which you don’t need if you have a Wi-Fi router already, or an all-in-one modem/router.) It may need a few minutes to boot up.This outlet is in the middle of my halfway, between the router in the living room and the bedrooms. If that works, then you should be able to connect the camera directly to the ethernet port on the Wi-Fi extender and have it connected to the internet. If you will be connecting a WiFi camera or something similar, it is also best to connect it whilst quite close to the access point, then mount the camera in the final position once it has already been connected to the access point. Wireless internet has become such an essential part of our daily lives that it’s difficult to remember what it was like to have dial-up internet for our home or office use. There’s no doubt that wifi has made daily tasks, from banking to booking a flight, much easier but life can get stressful when a wifi connection is glitchy and doesn’t work as well as we expect. Without WPS it may take a little longer to connect your wifi extender, but the idea is the same. First, you’ll want to connect the end of your Ethernet cable, or Cat5 cable, into the Internet port on the extender and the other end into the Internet port on your wifi router.

Every brand of network hardware is a little different, and we can’t cover them all. Generally if you follow the instructions that came with your extender, you should be okay. That being said, there are usually two different ways to go about it: If your router/gateway supports WPS, press the WPS button on your router/gateway for 5 seconds until the WPS indicator lights/blinks to initiate the connection. Our normal router is called 0606 Hyperoptic, and you can see that it transmits Wi-Fi on both the 2.4GHz and 5.0GHz bands. You can also see that the range extender is transmitting its own wi-fi signals - again on the 2.4GHz and 5.0GHz bands - called TP-Link_Extender_2.4GHz and TP-Link_Extender_5GHz.GearHead Support is a technical support service for NETGEAR devices and all other connected devices in your home. Advanced remote support tools are used to fix issues on any of your devices. The service includes support for the following: Note: WPS does not support WEP wireless encryption. If your router’s wireless encryption is set to WEP, please follow the steps to reconfigure using web GUI.

Yes, you will need to reconfigure your extender if you replace your existing router/gateway. You can reconfigure your extender either via WPS connection or using the web GUI. Slide the port cover off the bottom end of the WiFi access point, then connect one end of the long ethernet lead to the port on the POE injector marked 'POE' and connect that to the port marked 'WAN' on the WiFi access point. There’s no point in wasting your time installing a wifi extender if your router is in poor working condition. A good wifi router will operate nicely for a few years, but if you have had the same router for four or five years, it’s probably time to get a new one. Even if it seems to be working well, a new router will give off a better signal. Once you’ve completed the setup steps above, your extender is all set. Place it somewhere ideal in your home for coverage, and Wi-Fi devices like phones, laptops, and tablets will connect to it automatically. You should see green indicator lights for both power and wireless connection; if the connection light is orange or red, the device needs to be physically closer to the Wi-Fi router. Once you’re logged into the repeater interface, it should start a wizard to guide you through connecting to your local network step-by-step. But if it doesn’t (for example, if you bought your extender used), here’s what you do: Michael Crider/IDG
