Halloween, Digital, Print, T-Shirt, Hoodies, Wall Decoration, Tattoo Christmas, Birthday, Gifts, Skull, Figures, Pictures Illustrations, An international team led by Prof Qiang Ji at the Hebei Geo University in China drew on geochemical techniques to narrow down when the skull came to rest in Harbin, dating the bones to at least 146,000 years old. The skull has a unique combination of primitive and more modern features, with the face, in particular, more closely resembling Homo sapiens. One huge molar remains.

It is so distinctive in shape that some of the team have suggested declaring the skull as a new species of the genus Homo, and it has been dubbed Dragon Man, or Homo longi. The name is derived from the Long Jiang, or Dragon River, in the Heilongjiang province of China. Its estimated Middle Pleistocene age places it as an Asian contemporary of the evolving H. sapiens, H. neanderthalensis, and possibly the enigmatic Denisovan lineage,' adds Chris. A team led by Prof Qiang Ji at the Hebei GEO University described the skull in a new paper published in the journal The Innovation. Arstan Whitebeard tells Daenerys Targaryen that he served for a time in King's Landing, and walked beneath the dragon skulls that looked down from the walls of King Aerys II Targaryen's throne room. Dany tells him that her brother Viserys talked about those skulls, saying that the Usurper took them down and hid them away, as Robert could not bear them looking down on him upon his stolen throne. [19]

Stringer explained that his Chinese colleagues had decided upon the name Homo longi, which he called a “great name,” but said he would have been equally happy to refer to the species as Homo Daliensis, which was previously used for the Dali cranium.

It's a spectacular fossil," says María Martinón-Torres, the director of Spain's National Research Center on Human Evolution, who was not involved in the suite of papers. Measures of the decay of radioactive uranium in the Harbin skull provided its minimum age estimate of 146,000 years. Chemical analyses of the fossil and sediment still attached to it indicate an origin in the Harbin area, even if the researchers can’t confirm the farmer’s story to Ji. An artist’s reconstruction shows an adult male, based on a nearly complete fossil skull, who belonged to a newly proposed Homo species that lived at least 146,000 years ago in what’s now northern China. Chuang Zhao On our analyses, the Harbin group is more closely linked to Homo sapiens than the Neanderthals are – that is, Harbin shared a more recent common ancestor with us than the Neanderthals did,” co-author Chris Stringer of the Natural History Museum, London told AFP. ‘Sister species’Keep collections to yourself or inspire other shoppers! Keep in mind that anyone can view public collections - they may also appear in recommendations and other places. Ji persuaded the family to donate the specimen to the Geoscience Museum of Hebei GEO University, and the team got to work. They accrued information from 95 fossil crania, jawbones, and teeth representing a range of hominin groups, characterizing more than 600 features. They then used a supercomputer to construct billions of phylogenetic trees, tools used to illuminate the evolutionary relationships between hominins, with the fewest evolutionary steps, which most scientists agree is the most likely possibility. The tree that sprouted placed the Harbin skull on a new branch that is closely related to our own species.
