About this deal

Just found this. The hole in heat shield is bigger. Like the heat shield has been pulled out over the remaining clip.

Commonly used on Some Ford, Seat & V/W for underbody heat shields, noise insulations, bulk heads etc. Well today our up! has just returned from the VW dealer and lo & behold it had to have a new heat shield fitted. I was browsing around to find some cat related stuff and apparently there's a voluntary service recall on this heat shield for some 07-08 2.5 models. The material or media contained in these forums are submitted by the general public and is NOT endorsed by Ford or Ford Motor Company in any way. When Nissan designed the car, if they thought that it didn't require any rear heat shields, they wouldn't have fitted any, it would have saved them millions of pounds Not to fit any. They don't think, "we'll fit heat shields for the fun of it, not to worry about the cost" I thought not, but the listing is for a VW Transporter. I know VW parts are similar to Skoda, but the listing didn't state Skoda Fabia mk1. Apply tiger seal to car body and exhaust shield, and push a ‘washer’ over the stud with a small amount of tiger seal. I'm thinking about just replacing the bands with the adjustable bands you see on rubber couplings at Home Depot for joining ABS plastic pipe or cast iron pipe like the 3 or 4" bands. Rum - Yes, the thin sheet of metal sandwiched between heat shield and clip over stud is what I will try. The video I tried linking to and can't find again showed exactly what you have suggested, cheers.

Someone said to me that the rear end of the heat shield isn't really necessary and can safely be removed. Is that the case? BRISKODA is owned and operated by Summit 360 Ltd, registered in England & Wales, company number 05710517. Enquired about goodwill as car is 3 months out of warranty and has only covered 12000 miles from new 3 years ago when we bought it.sorry to be bringing up an old thread, but I think my heat shield is rattling. I thought at first it was my a/c compressor since the rattle comes & goes and I thought that the heat from the a/c compressor was causing the rattle. As for them not being suitable because of the heat - if you're getting that high exhaust temps, the clips are the least of your worries!

Nightmare things, the amount of cars we see per year for rattles that are nothing more than heat shields that have dropped, most rot the actual heatshield and then it’s time for a big repair washer as most don’t want the cost of a new heatshield. As long as it’s at the rear of the car and not near the front, then ditching it in the main won’t cause you any problems, the biggest problem you get is the front ones that protect cv joints or steering uj’s as they then tend to fail prematurely. The stud has a screw thread. So after initially pushing the washers on, can rotate them through one of the slots to tighten slightly.Recently I had the opportunity to easily get underneath my Note and noticed that some of the exhaust heat shield clips are missing from the rear section, presumably corroded and fallen off. The remaining ones seem to be OK. I often use washers that are meant for pinning insulation. They kinda mould to the shape. I do use the hex nut type washers too but they are damn expensive for what they are! Haven't heard rattle (maybe just wan't looking for it and wrote it off as "cold start noise"??) but was cleaning under the hood a bit today and noticed that my shield is only holding onto 1 bolt while other isn't doing anything at all lol. All the "filler" that's supposed hold my shield in place just isn't there and it moves a LOT since really only one bolt is holding it. https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=%23&ved=2ahUKEwjwvra2m7DkAhXIQUEAHdtmDGEQxa8BMAJ6BAgAEAY&usg=AOvVaw0VTJzWxrN8ZFOD4xbU2nov All content is viewed and used at your own risk. The views expressed herein are those of the individual contributors and not necessarily those of BRISKODA or SKODA. Anyone replaced their heat shield clips recently? Sounded like exhaust was falling off, but after prodding around it was a clip that was corroded. Others didn't look too healthy, neither. I have searched and an old thread showed a part number They said no goodwill as it may have been something catching on it under the car. To our knowledge nothing has ever caught the underside of our car. They are a different type of part than the one used on the under bonnet sound proofing, so just buy some, but, be aware that in most cases, the original retainers will still be on the car but rusted up, and the reason that you are finding that the heat shield has fallen down is because it is made of some aluminium alloy kind of material, and these retainers are zinc'd steel - so that has started a reaction that has locally trashed the aluminium alloy material - and it has "gone" and the heat shield now has a big hole in it where originally it had a small hole for the retainer's stud to pass through. So that means that you will need to make up some thin metal disc patches/repair washers to cover these holes when you go to fit new retainers.Edit:- no need to start drilling extra holes in the body to use a pop rivet, just use what is there. I looked up myself before posting a few listings and they too came up with VW transporter, Golf fitment. But, didn't fit a Fabia for whatever reason. The heat shield has two little tabs that retain the washer/clip. Bend them down slightly to remove old and fit new. The info about the tabs is useful. There are 3 rusty 'bits' which I could not identify which I now know are the remains of the tabs.
