The content starts with the basics (eyes, lips, cheeks, etc.) but moves to some interesting places: there's a discussion of the different types of professional makeup application (namely, advertising, editorial, and live events / catwalk / red carpet), but the book also discusses body art, underwater makeup, and (gasp!) makeup application on men. It's kind of silly that more books don't include men as a makeup topic. Moral of the story is that the art of makeup can be learned, so if you are a makeup lover and want to up your game – makeup books are a great way to do that.

So, it may be a little less seductive than makeup books that feature colorful images and beautiful models. BUT. The book also has plenty of guidance on how to work with brides, and that's a fantastic addition, because even if you're NOT interested in wedding makeup, it's at least something you should know about. This has helped me loads as I try to explore more creative uses of theeleventymillion eyeshadows I own. Pretty Iconic by Sali Hughes Plus, Robert Jones covers makeup for all ages, even giving specific ways that more mature makeup lovers can continue to get their best face as they age. Of all the books in our list, this is one most famous, and in our opinion, it is DEFINITELY worth a read.

I believe that if you can practice and master the looks he teaches you, you will be able to handle pretty much anything the industry throws at you.
