About this deal

So I put on my detective hat and get ready to puzzle this out, with much glee. But here is the first problem: not only do we not know the murderer, we don't know who the victim is either. So right off the bat, some of the fun is taken out of the whole thing. Look this one?? Number two? Is still the saltiest of them… even including this one… reigning champ… I just.. I mean.. What did you think about Hannah’s storyline? She’s horrified to find out that Charlie and Jules slept together after the birth of their child. Do you think Hannah will leave Charlie or will they stay together? After the wedding is over and the party is underway, the lights go out. Then someone screams. There’s a body outside.

Let’s talk about Johnno taking the blame for Will’s murder despite being innocent. Do you think the truth will ever come out about Aoife? In MOST ways- Hannah is a whiny, entitled, insecure brat that needs to just plain grow up. Mind you, I can say this about every person in this book except the teenager, who is the only character I liked, empathized … wait let me stop. I’m getting ahead of myself. This is fast-paced and easy to read. I figured out the murderer early on, but I didn’t know who had been murdered or why. There are a lot of red herrings thrown in to make one question their arm-chair detective skills. Some elements of the plot came together with a little too easily--it just so happened that one person in attendance had a link to another in a way that was just way too convenient. However, this connection did add another potential candidate as the murderer. I was intrigued from the start. Swept up into the atmosphere of the remote location almost immediately.

Meanwhile this poor girl is seriously suffering and that is how she is written. That is how the “adults” around her treat her and talk about her. The only character that actually attempts to help her is Hannah. It is Hannah’s one good trait and action throughout the book. Everyone else is crap about it.

I would have expected her to question it a little more than she did. But I suppose that's why she's so well suited to you" Repetition: Hannah can’t make up her mind. This was their chance at a weekend away (her and her husband Charlie). Oh, but he hasn’t seen Jules in sooooo long, he should have time to catch up with her. OH, BUT HOW DARE HE! This is our weekend away together. And round and round and round the merry-go-round went. I was nauseous. And now we get to #4… Johnno recalls how, years ago, he and Will pranked a fellow student during their game. They blindfolded him and tied him up and he drowned as a result. Slow burning story telling: I’m impatient person, I like to go straight and cut to the chase. So I don’t like stalling around facts, I just like to dive in! A fellow classmate named Darcey at the boarding school died after Will and Johnno tied him up and left him behind with no way to escape. Johnno is traumatized and feels guilty while Will takes no responsibility and tries to say it was an accident. Let’s talk about our thoughts as we read this. What does this say about Will how he always thought he was going to get away with everything?

Part psychological suspense part classic crime written in Agatha Christie style, The Hunting Party, is a great read appealing on many levels. I found this book to be impossible to put down. Right away, it creates this creepy spooky eerie vibe on this island, and I was pretty obsessed with the atmosphere of this book. This entire book takes place within two days, during a wedding. The story mainly takes place the day before the wedding and then it flash forwards we see what happened the night of the wedding - when someone is murdered. I like that we don’t find out who it is that is murdered until nearly the end, I was trying to figure it out the entire book. And I love that we follow from the POV from six different characters. You’d think it would be confusing but it was actually really easy after a while, and I loved all the storylines happening. I love that everyone had a motive so you are still trying to figure out who did it. CWA Dagger Awards 2020 Longlists Announced". The Crime Writers' Association . Retrieved 27 December 2021. That leads to the next huge ass plot hole in The Guest List- WHY DIDN’T OLIVIA SAY SOMETHING? I get initially not wanting to tell anyone. It is embarrassing.

Guests gather on a remote island off the coast of Ireland for a celebrity wedding. Sounds idyllic, right? Except this dream wedding turns into a nightmare long before the dead body is found. Meanwhile, from everyone else’s point of view you get the most surface observations EVER. Not just surface but dangerous. She’s thin. She’s so thin and pale and dark haired that she’s Kate Moss, 90s beautiful thin, with legs up to “her armpits.” Yup. That was said.
