Amy’s relationship with Aurelia changes her life forever. Have members of your group discuss the family, friends, and acquaintances who have changed their lives indelibly. Your group may want to analyze the kind of devotion that stems from these connections and compare it to the bond that Amy and Aurelia shared. How can the relationships we have with friends sometimes feel as strong and unbreakable as those we have with family? A hugely appealing tale of the endurance of friendship. With the elements of romance, mystery, drama, and history, there's much here to love." I enter the Rose and Crown. With my second, secret legacy from Aurelia I could afford the White Harte Royal, a hotel of some repute. But news flows between Ladywell and Enderby. If it were heard at Hatville Court that Amy Snow was seen taking a room at the Harte, they would be after me tomorrow in their carriage like the hounds of hell. For then they would guess there is more to my legacy than meets the eye. This book intrigued and frustrated me. At times I seemed to be reading and reading and getting nowhere. My thoughts are this could have done with a heavy edit. As it is, it seemed to meander around for much of the time. The premise was good, the execution though left something to be desired and the mystery Amy was set to uncover always felt predictable. Several times I considered giving up but somehow just couldn’t bring myself to do it, so I guess that is testament to the author’s writing skill that I needed to see how it all played out. There was plenty of mystery and intrigue throughout, which mixed well with Amy and her experiences of travelling around the country on her own as a woman, and finding people who knew Aurelia and didn't judge Amy because of her past and accepted her for who she was.

I adore Tracy’s writing and have from the moment I read Amy Snow when it first came out. The House at Silvermoor is a sweeping saga full of likeable characters. What a joy to read!’ Lorna Cook, author of The Forgotten Village This is this kind of a debut that make you gasp, do a double take and think: What? Debut novel? You must be joking! But yes, it is a debut novel, although yours truly can't believe it as well. Tracy's wonderful descriptions of the places and her talent to bring the characters to life make this book such an outstanding read! "Amy Snow" is written in a beautiful way, and it's both funny and heart - wrenching. I really didn't want to leave Amy and her life. It is 1831 when eight-year-old Aurelia Vennaway finds a naked baby girl abandoned in the snow on the grounds of her aristocratic family’s magnificent mansion. Her parents are horrified that she has brought a bastard foundling into the house, but Aurelia convinces them to keep the baby, whom she names Amy Snow. Amy is brought up as a second-class citizen, despised by Vennaways, but she and Aurelia are as close as sisters. When Aurelia dies at the age of twenty-three, she leaves Amy ten pounds, and the Vennaways immediately banish Amy from their home. - way too sappy and unrealistic for my taste. Plus, we get two leading men with not much to recommend – one is creepy and another one is too pushy and needy with pronouncements like this:

Aurelia Vennaway held her breath as she tiptoed from the stuffy parlor and stole along the hallway. Her mother and aunts had paid her no attention for the past hour but that did not mean she would be allowed to leave. Her mother thought that the weather would keep her inside, that for once she would sit quietly and decorously in the corner as a little girl should.Amy joined Nancy in founding Tallgrass Animal Acupressure Institute in 1998.
