About this deal

It's likely to be very similar to the one on the Panasonic Lumix S1, which is one of the best we've used, but we'll have to wait to try out the R5's EVF to be sure. Canon EOS R5 vs EOS R6: Video skills Not that the EOS R6 should really be considered a major step down – it's more like a compelling alternative to the EOS R5 than a major compromise. Hierarchically, it sits between the Canon EOS R and the EOS R5, and is the mirrorless equivalent of Canon's 6D-series DSLRs. One final area where the R6’s reduced bandwidth needs are reflected is battery life – where you can expect 490 shots on the R5 using its monitor to frame up, or 320 using the EVF, the R6 is rated to shoot up to 510 shots with the monitor or 380 with the viewfinder. While there are multiple tests and findings in the full report, one area that is worth looking at on its own is a test that Camnostic did to see how the Canon-branded batteries performed against those third-party options, all of whom claim better performance than first-party batteries. Shooting 45MP stills at 20fps with autofocus should mean some great, high resolution, shots - even when shooting action.

The Canon BG-R10 Battery Grip is designed for use on both the Canon R5 and R6 mirrorless camera bodies. It will hold up to two extra Canon LP-E6NH batteries and extends the cameras battery life for longer shooting sessions, such as at weddings or events. It has an ergonomic, tactile handle that mimics the camera's handgrip and has vertical controls and shutter release for portraiture orientation. MoreWith such a powerful new sensor and image processor, you'll need the means to shoot more and for longer. For this, Canon has included a combination of a super-fast CFexpress card slot and an SD UHS-II card slot, easily capable of recording large images and 8K footage. Canon's Cloud Service Videographers will be able to shoot high quality video as well as slow motion 4K footage, making this an ideal solution for hybrid shooters who are looking for a high-end output.

Camera batteries have evolved over the years. Whilst this can be frustrating if you’re upgrading and suddenly your old batteries are of no use, the technology inside your camera battery is getting better.

Camnostic tested multiple battery situations (including external batteries attached to a “dummy battery shaped like an L-e6) to chart real world expectations and even compared these results to third-party brands Neewer, Big Mike, Watson, and Powerextra. Of that, about just about 38 minutes was shot in 4K, All-I, 25fps in 10-bit Canon LOG, with the rest (a hair under 17 minutes) shot at 50fps, still in All-I and in LOG. Of note is that the shoot happened on the warmest day of the year with the ambient temperature resting at an uncomfortable 32-degrees. We didn’t see any overheating warnings. Purists who are concerned about the jello-effect of electronic shutters can put their minds at rest– we saw very little evidence of it. It was possible, on frames with tall elements in them, to detect a very small amount of distortion, but even with incredibly fast subjects, frames shot with the electronic shutter were just as usable as with the mechanical option. Another plus: the electronic shutter is totally – literally – silent. Wedding photographers and wildlife photographers, rejoice.
