About this deal

It was no far stretch to assume they had been serving royalty when the Erlking took over and murdered them all, even if they could not recall their monarchs’ faces or names or whether they had been respected and loved.

Manfred,” she said slowly, “do you remember serving the former royal family? The ones who lived here before the dark ones came?”Human, God, monster -- we are all the victims of fate and fortune. Whether or not the great wheel will land in our favor, only time will tell.”

Here in Gravenstone, there was little comfort, little joy, only her sadness creeping toward her on stealthy toes. A sadness that had begun to manifest in bitterness.” I remember little of life in the castle before. But I do recall feeling”—he considered his words a long moment, and appeared oddly wistful when he finally said—“proud. Of my work. Though what I had to be proud of, I could not say.” In a classic power move, the Erlking forces Serilda to become his wife. He's hoping to be able to use her powers for his own gain. She plays along, mildly, as she has her own agenda going on under the Erlking's nose; keep your enemies close and all that. If you’re seeking a richly told and imaginative retelling that breathes new life into an old tale, this duology more than delivers. It’s dark and macabre in all the best ways, with a cast of curious characters and strange creatures. And for all you cover judgers, this one’s a contender for the year’s best, bringing all the haunting fairytale vibes you could possibly want.Nem igaz, suttogta volna legszívesebben. Előre akart hajolni, a fiú halántékához nyomni az arcát. A falhoz préselni, hozzásimulni. Nem lettem az övé. Sosem leszek az övé.”

Nem igaz, suttogta volna legszívesebben. Előre akart hajolni, a fiú halántékához nyomni az arcát. A falhoz préselni, hozzásimulni. A történet is rögtön onnan folytatódott, ahol az első rész végett ér és jó sok izgalmat , kalandot rejt még ez a kicsit sötét mese. pre-read: marissa if you want to send me an early copy or even a powerpoint plot summary i will take it because i don’t think i can wait for this. Thank you so much to the publisher, Macmillan Audio, for providing me with a copy to read and review. Manfred remained quiet. She had told him, during their nightly walks, a little bit of the story of what had happened here. To the royal family. To him and all the people who had been unfortunate enough to be in this castle when the Erlking exacted his revenge. There was a time when she had told the story to Gild, believing it all to be a made-up fairy tale, but now she knew it was true. A gift from Wyrdith, her storytelling godparent, no doubt. The stakes are high. Can Serilda and Gild figure out how to free themselves from the Erlking's grasp before the Endless Moon finds them cursed forever? How she hated what had been done to them. How she tortured herself with guilt, knowing it was her fault. Her and her traitorous tongue and the stories she couldn’t stop telling. The imagination that had carried her away on so many fancies ever since she could remember … yet had brought her nothing but trouble. A life full of misfortunes.

Overall, this is a fantastic duology for Fairy Tale fans. It has such a classic feel, but is wholly original; great writing and character development. Egyedül a vége miatt voltam durci miután megszületett a pici, szívesen olvastam volna többet a jövőjükről. That is one of the great things about being a storyteller." Wyrdith nudged Serilda gently. "We get to write our own story, too.”Now that the story is finished, I can tell that this second book was not needed. The story could've fit in one book if Meyer wasn't a pathological overwriter or had an editor that didn't fear using the editorial hatchet more forcefully. I like her, I like that she is a good storyteller, but I'm not blind to the fact that she isn't a good writer. Like Serilda, she puts in too much, and she always overstays her welcome by cramming in too much and not knowing what to cut and where to stop; perhaps that's why this duology's heroine is the most reflective of her own storytelling. Whilst the pacing issues that plagued the first book do continue, the lulls aren’t quite so noticeable this time around, and that’s because Meyer’s sequel feels more layered than the book that came before. Shifting the focus to the Erlking and the gods who separated him from his beloved Huntress adds another dimension to the tale. The stakes are higher than ever but Serilda is such a clever, resourceful and kind-hearted character – you can’t help but root for her. There aren’t as many scenes between her and Gild as you’d expect, given their romance is key to the story, but any moments alone that they share are always funny, sweet and tinged with the bittersweet knowledge that they both have so much to lose if the Erlking wins. Her smile fell fast. “Of course he has,” she said, her tone sour. “The children have just fallen asleep. Give me a moment.”
