About this deal

Regardless of what model you get, Invicta gives you one hell of a box; for better or worse the watchmaker knows how to treat their customers like royalty. Mine came in a pretty sizeable yellow one, reminiscent of what you get with a Rolex, albeit with swapped colors. While Stuhrling had a similarly extravagant box for its low MSRP, Invicta impressively pulls its weight with the watch’s quality, as you’ll read below. It was just a suggestion, bearing in mind that they have introduced some new bezel colours etc that I really don’t like (sometimes it seems that Invicta just can’t help themselves) Nice! As someone said earlier, just lose the font, the Invicta word itself doesn't bother me, just don't like the font used for it. But looks great value all the same.

Despite my reservations about the execution of the design, it’s worth highlighting that some of the physical aspects of this watch are very impressive indeed. Unfortunately, I wasn’t quite so impressed by the watch itself. In fact, I think it’s a bit overhyped. Here’s why. I would like to call attention to the brand’s marketing strategy, wherein the MSRP of their watches is highly inflated and instantly slashed to give the impression of value and savings. It’s a watch that shows Invicta is capable of pulling off restrained designs, and I hope to see more like it in the future. The pictures show the strap on a Tudor, which looks very similar to this Invicta. The hands are a bit different, but quite similar. The solid links of the bracelet are vertically brushed with polished sides. The finish of the bracelet is actually a little nicer than the brushing on the case, with a finer grain. This one employs a pin and collar adjustment system. Movement

I have a habit of every spring buying a beater diver to use for six months as we tend to do a lot of outdoor activity, travelling & adventuring with the kids, sports, water activity and so on, and then often flipping it when summer is over. Position 2 is referred to as a “ghost date” position and serves no purpose. Usually a cost-cutting measure, it is the result of using a date complication movement on a watch with no date window.

I presume there's a similar VAT deal to the CW seem to have for sales going the other way. Its helpful if dealers can manage the VAT without buyers having to get involved. Worked for about 7 years before I decided to have a go at tinkering with the movement and messed it up Homage Watch Lists: Audemars Piguet Alternatives | Breitling Alternatives | Grand Seiko Alternatives | Nomos Alternatives | Omega Alternatives | Rolex Alternatives Nevertheless, I’d like to highlight some things others haven’t mentioned, in case you’re considering buying one. My aim here isn’t to bash the watch, rather to provide you with the full story, so you can make an informed purchasing decision. In traditional Submariner fashion, the stainless steel case takes on an exclusively brushed finish, except for the polished chamfered edges running the length of the lugs.

They’ve just released a decent quartz chronograph that looks ok, but otherwise the rest of their range holds no interest to me. Given that it’s essentially got the same look as the Submariner, the 1953 is a fantastically versatile watch, debatably more so than the 8926OB. It’s got enough water resistance and a tough enough movement to be worn for years to come, yet is dressy enough for less casual events. Its standard lug widths also allow you to dress the 1953 up and down with NATO, rubber, and leather straps.Invicta isn’t a brand to shy away from marketing. If you haven’t had them rammed down your throat on television, you’ve probably had them stalk you around the internet instead. They’ve even done collaborations with everyone from Shaq to Star Wars and Spongebob. I’d go as far as to call them the loudest brand in the watch world. This is also a great choice if you’re just getting into watches. Borrowing its aesthetics from one of the most iconic and timeless designs in watch history, it’s a capable 200m diver. Some folks out there couldn’t care less about the brand reputation of their watch, but I believe it’s worth learning about. In the world of watches, you’re buying the brand just as much as you’re buying the product itself. I wondered if I should don my flame suit for posting about an Invicta but it does seem this has hit the spot. In the hands, it feels decent for the money, which puts me in a rather strange predicament. This 1953 is a good quality watch that’s also well-priced when available at retail cost.

I've had an invicta in the past and it was nothing but exceptional to be honest, it was actually my first mechanical watch so kept it in my collection. Corners must be cut at this price point, but it’s no stretch to presume folks would pay a little more for upgraded specs. At the very least, a sapphire crystal upgrade would have been nice.I’m honestly a little puzzled about the intended target audience of this watch. The 1953 Submariner is a peculiar choice for an affordable homage watch at this price point. Normally I would run a mile from an Invicta watch, but in this case I'd advocate that's €120 well spent, Simon. While this may be deceptive, the ridiculous markup prices are easy to see though. Any sensible shopper can determine the true value of an item by comparing prices online.
