About this deal

It’s designed to stop you getting sweaty, although I’d recommend the Alcantara version if you want a more luxurious feel. In either, you get racing seat-like cut-outs towards the top of the seat, which look the part and are cushioned. Playseat pedal interface Compatible with PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox, Xbox 360, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Wii, Wii U, Switch, PC, and Mac It should match your medium-term or long-term aims for your setup. Are you hoping that your rig will hold a Direct Drive or hydraulic pedals once you’re ready to make the step up? People are using CSW 2.5 with Challenge without problems. They both, CSW and DD have similar max torque. The Playseat Challenge is a great piece of equipment. It accomplishes what it set out to do and it does it well. However, if you’re in the market for a beginner sim racing rig, there are a few Playseat Challenge alternatives to be aware of.

A high-end Rennsport rig that is designed for Fanatec’s Direct Drive wheels would be as useful for a Thrustmaster TMX as a fold-up solution would be for a 32Nm Simucube 2 Ultimate – the key takeaway being that your rig must be suitable for your setup, amongst many other requirements: The most expensive rig in this list is the Pro Simrig PSR3. It’s far from entry-level but is probably the cheapest rig you can buy that’s made from aluminium profiles. This means that it’s really, really strong, has nearly zero movement when under heavy load and can handle the strongest of direct drive wheelbases. The main thing that's always put me off setting up a proper racing rig is the space requirement. The footprint of these things is sizeable. And while you still need a fair bit of room to use the Playseat Challenge, you only need it while you're racing. The metal frame has a free-twisting hinge at its middle, and Playseat uses a series of chunky velcro pads to both attach the seat part and stop the whole thing from collapsing to the floor. See those almost armrest-like parts to each side? They are heavy-duty velcro pads that hold the chair up.There’s room on the Playseat Challenge for your pedals too, of course. They sit on foam-lined metal frame bars that curl up at the end, to avoid you pushing the pedal set off into the distance when you depress the brake. There's really nothing to dislike about the Playseat Challenge. I find the driving position preferable to other seats where you're sitting bolt upright. It's a little more authentic, and also I think the driving position is better. Pros: On top of this, the Playseat Challenge is foldable when not in use, meaning that it won’t take up massive amounts of space if you’re looking to use your computer for other means, or just don’t want your rig to be a permanent fixture to your room. If you dont have much budget left and you can only afford a budget rig, instead of buying brand new you may think of purchasing used instead which may get you a better quality rig for the same price range.

You get a mount for your pedals, wheel, and even your handbrake or shifter too, and each of these is adjustable to suit your specific racing style. You also get a 14-way adjustable seat that you can position in just about any way you can imagine! It supports all the big brands in Sim Racing hardware, like Fanatec, Moza Racing, Heusinkveld, Asetek, and more too, which is an added bonus for future-proofing your setup. Comfort is a big thing to take into account when choosing your Playseat alternative. You don’t want to be uncomfortable during long gaming sessions in your racing seat as it ruins the whole experience and breaks your immersion. Not only that, but an uncomfortable chair can be detrimental to your health if it doesn’t support proper posture. The ActiFit™ fabric consists of vertical microfibers that move the air. It keeps you cool during the most intense racing sessions. The NEW Actifit Playseat® Challenge is very comfortable, and highly adjustable, to ensure the most fun racing experience at home! However, I find this feels precarious if you have a heavier racing wheelbase. It starts to feel like mounting a gigantic camera zoom lens onto a tiny camera body. This is a good option for those that want a comfortable seat with adjustable mounting options. It's designed to be easy to set up, and it's a comfortable choice for longer sim racing sessions.
