About this deal

So my initial reason for buying the 56mm was to have something a bit more telephoto for action shots. I’m sure this wasn’t Fujifilm’s targeted scenario for this lens. I get that. But I’m sure they were thinking photographers would use this lens for weddings too and other such family events or even an outdoor portrait photoshoot. And that’s exactly what I ended up using it for as well. Then also you can see in 2021 there was +3.1% growth in shipment for lenssystems 35mm and larger versus a -22.7% decline in shipment for lenssystems <35mm. SIGMAMicro Four Thirds mount . It does not really make sense to compare the 16mm 1.4 with 18mm 1.4. First of all there is a significant difference in the field of view of the 27mm equivalent (18mm 1.4) lens and 24mm equivalent (16mm 1.4) lens. If you need the 24mm equiv. focal length, then the optical performance of 18mm 1.4 doesn't matter since it is not a 24mm equiv lens. If 27mm works better for you then there is not point looking at 16mm 1.4. If you want a top-performing portrait lens for a great price, the Sigma 56mm f/1.4 is a great choice. I also love the short barrel length of just 2.34 in (60 mm). This is incredibly compact for the capability it offers in terms of focal length and minimum aperture. It is also an indication why Canon, Sony and Nikon show less interest for smaller sensor sized systems. It is the APS-C/MFT segment that get the biggest hit in dropping sales.

The 56mm f1.4 also scored highly in term sod optical performance. The images it produces are superb, and in every way, I feel this lens compares very favorably with what Fujifilm offers. The message appears even when the software and the lens are appropriate, close the Lens System Software Updater and remove the cable and power OFF the camera. When compared to the Sony E 50mm f/1.8, it feels much more durable and rugged. In addition, the autofocus feels faster! With that in mind, the Sigma 56mm f/1.4 is a clear winner. I much prefer sub 50mm portraits, they give significantly more intimate charachter and natural porportions rather than the super flat far-away 85mm+ ones. Fuji folks--who don't care at all about Sony--are excited because whatever else Sigma has done in the past, they're making lenses for us now. Before we go on, I’m going to make this clear, like we have previously. In fact, I’m going to quote specifically from our Sigma 35mm f1.4 DG DN Art review. Here’s what we said: The lens features a durable and robust construction. The rubber seal around the mount is visible in this image and helps keep dust and dirt passing between the camera and lens connection This is the second Sigma lens I've had the opportunity to test out and for the four weeks, I never removed it from the Fuji X-T5, opting simply to see if it performed well in every situation it was presented with. It was great in low light thanks to the f/1.4 aperture and even in bright sunlight, it didn't suffer from lens flare. Build Quality The Sigma 56mm F1.4 DC DN lens for Fujifilm X-mount is constructed of ten elements in six groups, including one super low-dispersion (SLD) element and one aspherical elements. I read from one source that it would be available for Fuji X mount, but Now I can't find anything about that. The Sigma 56mm f1.4 lens has several features that make it stand out. These include a fast maximum aperture of f/1.4, which allows for excellent low-light performance and a lovely shallow depth of field. It also has a high-quality optical design with 10 elements in 6 groups, including two SLD elements and one aspherical element, which helps to reduce chromatic aberration and distortion. The lens has a silent autofocus motor and a manual focus override option. What cameras are the Sigma 56mm f1.4 lens compatible with?
