The book is filled with descriptions of mindless nonsense and 'lashings of mascarra' (a phrase that popped up at least twice and annoyed the hell of me!) Girl meets guy, Noah who is himself a walking cliche (dark brooding lead guitarist in a band with issues obviously..) girl tries to play hard to get with a witty retort (the only tiny paragraph in the entire book that I didn't despise) before giving into her whiny over analyed feelings and letting him buy her a designer dress take her to the ballet (because of course hes also rich, duh..) Secrets, betrayals, and twists galore, it is quite an exciting read. Recommended to read any time of the year, this fast paced, character driven novel is sure to bust the greatest reading slump. Screw it. I really wanted to adore this one. It fulfils so many criteria that determine my opinion on books. And yet, it managed to mess up. The narrative is shared across “Now” and “Then” (Pippa’s Pov) and “Before" and “After" (Amanda’s PoV). The author touches upon themes of love, marriage and fidelity and mental health, among others. None of the characters are particularly likable, though I could sympathize with Amanda to an extent and Gabe for his personal struggles. On this note, I had serious issues with how the topic of mental health was handled in this story. We are shown that Gabe was receiving professional help, but I found it hard to believe Pippa did not question the initial diagnosis. As the narrative begins to shed light on past events, I thought Pippa, a lawyer by profession who has dealt with Gabe’s past indiscretions and mental health issues in the past, chose to ignore or rather was in denial over the gravity of the situation in the present timeline. With two young children at home, one would expect her to be circumspect and act on it, instead of wishing her troubles away and second-guessing her suspicions. As a plot point, I found this aspect of the story utterly unconvincing. When you loved someone and had to let them go, there will always be that small part of yourself that whispers, "What was it that you wanted and why didn't you fight for it?” By separating, twin flames can evolve faster though the intention remains to eventually unite again. No, this doesn’t mean that you are walking around as half a person. Rather, both flames are whole and when they eventually unite, they will evolve even further. Not only does the twin flame connection benefit one another, but when twin flames reunite, they work to raise the vibration of the world.
