Viewing angles are poor as we would expect from this type of VA panel with brightness, colour and gamma shift seen as soon as you move 30 degrees off-axis to the sides or get above or below the set. Room positioning is important to get the best from this TCL C735 and when watching directly onto the screen many of the issues are mitigated, giving the TV very good image quality at the price point. The TCL 55C735K offers good viewing angles thanks to its QLED panel. You can enjoy clear and vibrant images even when viewing the TV from the sides. This is particularly beneficial for larger rooms or if multiple viewers are watching from different angles. The wide viewing angles ensure that everyone can have a comfortable and immersive viewing experience, no matter where they are seated. Voice Control The TCL 55C735K boasts a 4K Ultra HD resolution, delivering exceptional picture quality with high pixel density. With four times the resolution of Full HD, the TV produces sharp, detailed, and lifelike images. The 4K resolution ensures you can fully appreciate the fine details and textures in movies, TV shows, and games, providing a more immersive and realistic viewing experience. 8K Resolution TCL's 2023models use Google TV 11, and theinterface is clean and pretty simple to navigate. It's divided into multiple rows, and each row presents content from different apps. These rows can be customized to your liking, as you can choose which apps are disabled and where. However, because there are so many rows, it can feel overwhelming, and it may take some time to fully navigate the interface if you're not used to it. Google TV makes for a familiar and well-organized interface, with easy access to all the key video services and catch-up channels. It aims to be smart at filling its home screen with content from your selected services and did so here with a minimum of the YouTube promotion that has seemed prevalent in the earlier days of Android TV. That said, it didn’t include content from all available services, notably omitting TCL’s own channel of live and on-demand content.

The remote control is worthy of praise, kept nicely simple, with those six service-specific one-touch keys and a top circle to activate voice control. The TCL C735 is a good all-round workhorse TV designed to be used in normal lighting conditions and offers a good selection of connectivity, gaming features, HDR compatibility and smart TV. Used in this manner it comes recommended and has been scored with the market position and cost in mind vs. performance. The panel is rated at 330 nits (100% of the panel), and our tests verified this. It is not overly bright and best in slightly darker rooms. If you have more open viewing space, then the C835 Mini-LED is for you. All video content is intelligently upscaled to 4K. With the TCL being a value-for-money LED LCD TV made to a price point, the one area where the performance will take a hit is with HDR. The LED LCD panel used is not capable of high peak brightness levels like the more expensive LCD TVs on the market and that is why using dynamic metadata formats like Dolby Vision and HDR10+ makes sense, as they can be utilised for the panel's capabilities.
