About this deal

As they’re much less padded, ultra-light carriers tend to be worn for slightly shorter periods, but they’ll save your sanity on really hot sweaty days! Size and weight limit: your baby will fit and be safe if she weighs anywhere between 7 and 35 pounds. The Beco Gemini does not need an infant insert. Instead, it uses an adjustable seat for newborns up to 15 pounds. It’s designed to fit any adult between XS and XXL. The best carrier for hot weather… Ergobaby All Position 360 Cool Mesh, Lillebaby Airflow, BabyBjorn Carrier One Air, Happy Baby Carrier.

There is no hands-free breastfeeding option for a newborn. You’ll still need at least one hand/arm to support your baby – at least until they can hold on themselves (often from around 6 months+) But having one hand free is better than no hands, right? It may seem like an endless set of options for baby carriers exist online, but they can be neatly divided into four basic types of carrier. A note on hip dysplasia: Some babywearing advocates have started to downplay the importance of this point, as there’s now some evidence against the effect of swaddling and posture on the development of hip problems in babies who aren’t born with existing dysplasia, but the wider seat offered by hip-healthy carriers is comfortable and certainly can’t hurt.Kun kort tid ad gangen. At bære udadvendt er ikke en ergonomisk langtidsholdbar bærestilling for hverken dit barn – dreng eller pige – eller dig. Our babywearing coach notes that some petite parents find the long shoulder straps on the LÍLLÉbaby more of a nuisance than they’re worth, but none of our testers has specific complaints. The lumbar pad will probably need to go if you have a smaller waist, but with the pad removed it’s the same as the Ergobaby and smaller than the Beco. Convenience

The Baby Tula Explore baby carrier comes in linen, cotton and hemp versions, with dozens of design options. While this carrier was slightly more difficult to put on alone than the Líllébaby or Ergobaby, the Baby Tula Explore is a great option if you’re looking for a stylish carrier that acts as a bit of a statement piece. It’s also one of the most lightweight carriers I tested, at just under 2 pounds, and it comes in a variety of higher-end fabrics. Our test team for this review consisted of our resident babywearing dad and six volunteer moms. We also reached out to some friends who are experienced baby-wearers for research and to participate in our photo shoot. After speaking with these experts, I narrowed the list down to eight carriers to test. When the carriers arrived, I pulled each out of its box to do an initial test. At a basic level, I needed to make sure the carriers were easy to put on and tighten on my own. Once I’d confirmed this ease (which was present in some carriers but not others), I wore my 6-month-old, 13-pound daughter around the house in the carriers. Because of her age, I used all the carriers in a front-carry configuration, but I tested them with her facing both in and out. Each carrier also came with me for a 2-mile (minimum) hike, and I toted my baby around in them during Christmas tree lightings, brewery hangouts with friends and fussy family meals. The Close Caboo + Organic is a pre-made wrap in two parts: put it on like a t-shirt and secure your baby in place by pulling the fabric through two rings. These are a perfect choice for those who like the idea of a wrap, but don’t fancy all the tying. Here’s my handy how-to video to show you how to safely and easily use any stretchy wrap. Izmi Baby Wrap Izmi Baby (0-6m+)has always been my favourite lightweight newborn carrier. Then they bought out the even-cooler Izmi Baby Breeze version, with ventilated soft mesh panels to keep your baby cool. Genius. Both are so much lighter and easier to use than pretty much any other carrier on the market.

Now that Ergobaby is expanding into other corners of the baby-product marketplace, we hoped we would start to see the special-edition patterns coordinating across different lines. There’s a diaper bag with a dedicated storage compartment for the carrier, but it’s only available in one pattern. In our review of the best diaper bags we found that other bags are a better value anyway, but it’s an opportunity we hope Ergobaby capitalizes on. If you find that a blanket is too difficult to keep in place when you’re carrying a smaller newborn, Lillebaby also sells a pillow insert that will help you get the perfect position. Our babywearing coaches say they always recommend buying the insert for a newborn, since they’ve seen too much confusion about what blanket to use. Double strollers and Disneyland go together like PB and J, but all of our testers who’ve bought double strollers still sometimes use a baby carrier for the extra versatility and mobility at the park or for hiking.

Unlike the “crotch dangler” carrier designs of last century, the new Infantino models are all designed to properly put a baby’s hips and legs in a natural position. Like the other carriers we tested, the Infantino has a supportive seat (adjustable to grow with your baby) that allows the knees to make a natural M shape when you look at the carrier in the mirror. Compared to some other models we tested, the Beco has the least amount of padding in the shoulder straps and waist belt. Both of those sort of dig into your flesh, especially if you wear it for longer periods of time.
