If you're new to sipping Tequila or looking to expand your knowledge of this beloved spirit, this guide will tell you everything you need to know about Reposados, from how this Tequila category should be enjoyed and what makes it so unique. Tequila reposado should be sipped slowly, not taken as a shot. Sipping allows you to savor the taste and take your time finding the subtleties underneath the initial agave flavor. With small sips, you can learn how to recognize these flavors and expand your understanding of Tequila. This is why quality is the biggest factor in sipping Tequila. Liquor Replacement The insights I’ve gained aren’t just from books or hearsay; they are the result of hands-on experience, countless tastings, and an enduring passion for these spirits. Here, I’m not just sharing opinions; I’m weaving tales from the rich tapestry of my experiences over these three decades. Over 25 years ago, Clase Azul hit the shelves and made one of the biggest impacts ever seen in the liquor and spirits industry. The hand-painted blue and white ceramic decanter is the perfect introduction to the level of care and craftsmanship that goes into every batch.

While all Tequilas go through the first four pieces of the process listed above, the approach to resting the spirit in barrels is where different Reposados stand apart. Variations can be attributed to the type of barrel used during the aging process, how long the Tequila is aged for, and the final blending decisions made by the Tequilero or Tequilera. Experienced Tequila drinkers appreciate reposado Tequila by itself without any garnishes and additives that will change its flavor. However, there are plenty of ways to enjoy Tequila that will allow you to appreciate its natural flavor, regardless of whether you're a novice drinker or a knowledgeable sipper. Sipping It Neat Flavor: All Tequila is made using agave, so it carries a natural sweetness. While some Tequilas are mixed with additives like sugar cane or molasses, good reposado is 100% agave, which adds some flavor. The wood of the barrel adds hints of dried fruit and warm vanilla to the spirit. It’s not recommended to use it as a mixer as its high quality and delicate flavors could be overshadowed by mixers. Fortaleza Reposado facts:The flavor profile is rich in agave, with a subtle balance of vanilla and butterscotch flavors and a hint of oak spice. Cheese: After aging in oak barrels, the soft profile of reposado fits the creaminess of brie and the smoky flavor of gouda. If you want to change things up, forget the wine and try a Tequila and cheese pairing night instead. In 1976 the business was sold, but the family kept the land with the Hacienda and the distillery, and in 1999 Don Guillermo began the process of getting the old small distillery working again. Each bottle is hand-blown by artisan glassmakers and topped with a handmade cap designed to resemble the heart of the agave plant making a good token.

Fortaleza Reposado vs Fortaleza Añejo: (Which Tequila Wins?) Fortaleza Reposado vs Fortaleza Añejo: (Which Tequila Wins?)

Fortaleza crafts Tequila using traditional methods such as cooking the agaves in stone ovens, extracting the juice from the agave using a 2-ton tahona stone, and fermenting them in the open air without the use of yeasts. Don Cenobio was the first person to export "mezcal de tequila" to the United States with the name of "Tequila", implemented the use of steam to cook the agave instead of a pit (as mezcal is produced nowadays) and stated that Blue Agave Tequilana Webber is the best for Tequila production. TASTE- medium oils, nice agave presence, buttery and earthy with cinnamon, some vanilla, and spice. Nice presence of citrus, vanilla, caramel, olive and some fruit. This is deliciously balanced and totally amazing.

The finish lingers, with a pleasant warmth that spreads to your chest, featuring notes of blue agave, pineapple, caramel, and oak. Is it good? Although Añejo Tequilas are not usually my preferred choice due to the risk of losing the unique agave taste and taking on a bourbon-like flavor, Fortaleza Añejo is an exception to the rule, and it is one of the most intricate Tequilas that I have ever tasted. My journey has seen me as an owner of sophisticated bars and renowned liquor shops, and even as a Mezcal distiller, honing the craft from scratch. While you may not typically think of pairing Tequila with specific foods unless you're having a Mexican-inspired meal, the distilled spirit goes well with several delicious entrees and sides.
