Literacy Skills – Talking about the activity as it is completed is a great way to get early years children talking and using their words. Social Skills – Preschool kids can talk and work together to complete puzzles and socialise at the same time. In another bowl cream the sugar and butter together, then add the vanilla, almond, and egg. Mix again. Normally recipes say to put the dough into the fridge as it is, but if you roll out the dough onto parchment paper before putting it into the fridge for at least 30 minutes, it makes it much easier when you take it out.Reading stories to kids can be super fun and interesting. Children will often find a book they love such as The Gruffalo and this can then be used as a theme to teach different skills to kids that help aid literacy, learning and development. Roll into small balls (you should be able to make 16-20) and place them spaced out on your baking tray (you may need a couple of trays depending on size). Push down gently with your fingers so they are a little less ball like and more biscuit like (you can see the ridges in the picture). These do spread in the oven so don’t completely flatten them.

Jigsaw Puzzles are very beneficial and with 9 Gruffalo story scenes to choose from this Ravensburger Puzzle set is in my opinion a brilliant resource to help little ones learn. We really enjoyed receiving this puzzle and it was fun to test out and very well illustrated. In fact last year we went on a fantastic Gruffalo Trail with my daughter Sylvia.
