I’m trying to think of the best way to put my feelings about this book into more words than that and I’m struggling. I just keep playing my favorite parts over and over in my head - I adored it that much. Overall though I liked but didn’t love this but I think that maybe more to do with me than anything else. I did find this well-written I just didn’t like it as much as I thought I would. I’m still planning on reading book three and I’m hoping it’s a better fit here I just struggled to connect. DID I FINISH THIS IN A DAY?? You bet your ass I did. It was seriously THAT GOOD!! I couldn't put this down. The premise was sooo different and I loved every bit of it. And getting to see a little bit of Kal from the first book? Icing on the cake.

this is why i hate booktok authors, they always wanna add stupid tropes so that that one scene is featured in a video. this book had so much potential. actual chemistry but wtf?? WHERE WAS THE DARKNESS? I could have seen less of Kal & Elena lmao I don't like them and Elena was as annoying in this book as she was in hers. I seriously cannot stand her. Jonas was the highlight of this book for me, because I adored him with every fiber of my being. Please rail me into the next century, sir, I will thank you for it with my mouth and spread thighs. He calls her love. Don't bang my line, for I am deceased. He's the standard, people. The. Standard. Aiden was definitely a little erratic. He would flip a switch to being soft (well softer) to being a complete asshole at times wants to see Riley suffer. He’s very much sadistic about it. (Aiden very much has dacryphilia and doesn’t do much to hide it) he’s so obsessive and compulsive, as we see him breaking and entering, stealing her clothing, and the peppermints. He changes from a charismatic celebrity to a someone that is so dark and controlling. I wished there would've been more insight into Riley's past, considering how much it played a part in the story. However, I admired Riley's strength and felt for her and what she's gone through.

There was so much family drama, it just kept going. I grew bored and uninterested. It felt like there was stalling from the main plot. Kinda a let down after the second one. The plot kinda got lost. Lenny and Jonas have a mutual agreement to fake date (which turns into a fake engagement) but wasn’t really fully executed. Like one of the reasons they got together was for publicity, but I was expecting publicity stunts and more public outings. Yet, a lot of the drama centered on family. The reason why they started as couple became kind of lost (expect the excuse of Lenny being forced to date Preston)I want to start with Riley - the invisible girl. The one ignored. The one that thought, "You tiptoe around people just to avoid upsetting them, because it's easier than admitting to yet another of your shortcomings." There is an entire chapter of her getting a tattoo and for several more chapters I have no idea what it was. That seemed frustrating, especially when characters kept saying ‘the tattoo.’ Book Genre: Adult, Contemporary, Contemporary Romance, Dark, Fantasy, Fiction, Mythology, New Adult, Retellings, Romance The ending, eh. The epilogue was fine. But the last chapter. I don’t know, I needed more. I don’t wanna give away too much. But it could of have a bigger blow.

Sav has done it once again, following Promises and Pomegranates with an equally delicious and immersive dark romance. So... this might have just dragged me out of my book slump. Transparently, I was very skeptical of this book because I really did not like the first book in this series, Promises and Pomegranates, at all. The reason why I read this book anyway was because of the 1) fake relationship trope and 2) Sav R Miller's writing is literally so good that I'm constantly in awe of it. I have genuinely not enjoyed writing the way I have enjoyed hers in a very long time. Lenny was such a fun fmc, her and Jonas are definitely the perfect fit. I found her entertaining and she was so strong after everything she had gone through, I just wanted to give her a big hug.
