About this deal

Venus in Sagittarius: Flirtation. A travelling minstrel serenades a beautiful young huntress. The lute symbolizes the pleasure-loving nature of Venus, and the bow the far-seeking adventurousness of Sagittarius." Caroline Smith is an internationally renowned artist whose work features recurring goddess imagery. Together with her late husband, leading astrologer and author John Astrop, she has created a number of powerful divination systems showcasing her symbolic and bold style. The Elemental Tarot is so named for its use of the four elements, earth, air, fire, water, and then the fifth, holistic Universe element represented by the Major Arcana. For the Minor Arcana, the element earth refers to pentacles, air to swords, fire to wands, and water to cups. The symbols for the elements are at the very bottom of every card. The holistic Element for the Major Arcana is represented by an oval, Water by a half moon turned on its side to take the form of a cup or bowl, Earth by a square, Air by a circle and Fire by a triangle. The cards are also color coded according to each element. From the book: "This Sun oracle is a unique system based on eighty-four illustrated cards describing the meaning of the Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn in the twelve Houses and twelve signs of astrology, and sets out a clear and simple means of remembering and developing the interpretation. As in Horary astrology, the Sun oracle does not use the outer planets Uranus, Neptune and Pluto."

Book Review – The Sacred Herbs of Yule and Christmas: Remedies, Recipes, Magic & Brews for the Winter Season by Ellen Evert Hopman The book is kind of confusing as a basic introduction to astrology, especially the spreads. They’re based on houses, and months, and ??? I think I’ll pass on them but try some of my own houses spread ideas. And I may pull into service my handy Keywords for Astrology book if I need more info than the card keywords. Well, it all seems to make sense. It’s helpful to use the keyword, but if it doesn’t fit, I can go to the planets and signs themselves! So what happened? I sat down at my desk today and started doing the spreads included in the book. As is often the case, cards look different laid out in spreads. Or maybe it’s just that I look at them differently. In any case, seeing them in spreads and reading the explanation for the artistic choices made on each card changed everything. Suddenly, the artwork that I thought was “meh” came to life and I managed to get my head around what I was looking at. All of a sudden I thought they were brilliant. Interesting that two of my gifts are my birth planets. It seems to be saying that their positions are my natural gifts. I just need to recognize them and use them. What would be healing for me is to allow myself enjoyment and a little showing off.For the Sun in Sagittarius ‘Enthusiasm’ pictured above, the card image description reads, “A bright intelligent head haloed by the sun sits at the top of a traditional alchemical jar. Within a jar, a figure floats among the stars, sun and moon.” The Jupiter in Aries ‘Enterprise’ artwork also pictured above is described, “The hand diagram of the chiromancers shows the complete set of planetary qualities. Jupiter’s nature in palmistry is to denote the achievement of enterprise and ambition, where full use is made of all talents available. The acorns are simply the seeds of potential.” Sometimes my feelings overcome my common sense. As we learned in Mary Greer’s intuition class, you have to trust your intuition, BUT not everything that pops into your head is trustworthy. Oracle of the Radiant Sun deck review – Louise Barescat Oracle of the Radiant Sun deck review – Louise Barescat

In the March 2015 spot (far left of layout above the April 2014 card) the Acquisition card Sun in Taurus suggests female L will come into some money or at the very least something of value. This card also shows a minor dispute over possessions. Saturn in Aries: Risk. A boy, worldly possessions over his shoulder, bravely passes a menacing bear. The North American Indian fetish is a protection against danger. A key symbolizes Aries' boldness in opening doors, and a starred tree the fruits of Martian courage." Interesting. I think I said this before for this card in another reading, but. I need to trust my intuition but not put complete faith in any idea that pops into my head. Temperance indeed. From guide: “This Sun oracle is a distinct system based upon eighty-four detailed cards defining the significance of the Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter as well as Saturn in the twelve Houses as well as twelve indicators of astrology, and also lays out a clear as well as basic methods of bearing in mind and also establishing the analysis. As in Horary astrology, the Sun oracle does not make use of the external earths Uranus, Neptune as well as Pluto.” THE ORACLE OF THE RADIANT SUN TAROT DETAILS Mars in Cancer: Quarrel. Two mounted figures squabble over a gold ring symbolizing betrothal. This image concerns families united or divided over relationships or inheritances. The classical busts glare at each other, reminders that this has happened before."All of the majors feature quotes from the Gnostic text known as ‘The Thunder, Perfect Mind’. On Choice there is ‘Whatever I will happens to me’. These fit so well with the 22 cards. There is also a key word at the bottom of the card for each major, here: ‘Passion’. Book Review – Mindful Homes: Create healing living spaces with mindfulness and feng shui by Anjie Cho As for the cards themselves, as I say they are rich in imagery and symbolism. There are realistic, Victorian-style images both pastoral and urban. There are symbols from Judaism and Islam, as well as Christian imagery. There are elements from Egyptian culture, as well as Greek myths and art. There are some picture-book elements, too, but always within the theme of elements which a Victorian might put on cards. The colours remain fairly pastel throughout, but with a lot of variety. The guide book that accompanies Oracle of the Radiant Sun is fantastic. As I have already mentioned, it really helped me to connect with the cards. Plus, it contains a wealth of information. I like that they point out that:

The Oracle of the Radiant Sun: Smith, Caroline, Astrop, John The Oracle of the Radiant Sun: Smith, Caroline, Astrop, John

Studying the four weekly cards there is a strong indication a situation will materialize which will test female L. Since the Loss card does suggest the “loss” of someone or some situation which is very close to female L the weekly cards confirm this especially in week 2 of January. The Theme card needs to be factored in when reading these cards as well. There is a strong indication that someone’s health will be of concern. Flamboyant self-expression. I avoid real drama at any cost, but I can be a bit dramatic in normal life, just because it’s fun! And it’s a way to express myself. Each card has a yellow card image, flanked by the House number and keyword title in bold with the planet and sign underneath on one side and the relevant symbols and the keyword for the planet and the sign on the other. Beneath in italics is a description of the card illustration which really helped me to connect with the cards. Next, presented in two columns below is the information about the card. Firstly, information is given from a personal perspective ie how someone with Saturn in Aries would present. This is followed by a paragraph on ‘when this card is drawn in a reading’ and finally there’s a section titled ‘Events’ which suggests potential events linked to the placement.

Week 3: Optimism. Moon in Sagittarius. This card indicates that a long trip or travel is necessary. There will be a reunion with people from L’s past. Mercury in Libra: Influence. The coiled serpent's tongue is the astrological sigil for the planet Mercury. It represents smooth talk, guile, persuasion and temptation. In the first relationship, Adam and Eve walk in the garden, unaware of danger. Beneath the roses, thorns." Week 4: Egotism. Mars in Leo. This card represents L’ s overall attitude. She will be a bit more assertive than usual. She may have to take the role of leadership. Use critical thinking. If it’s too good to be true, it probably is. Use Mercury and Mars: figure it out and act! However, don’t worry if that’s not your thing. As the creators point out, you can still gain a lot just by integrating the keywords associated with each planet, house and sign. Whatever your personal approach, if astrology interests you then the Oracle of the Radiant Sun is well worth a look.
