You’ll be able to get closer than ever before to capture crystal clear images of objects too small to shoot with a regular iPhone lens. As you tell by its stars rating in this review, there's little I don't like about the ShiftCam ProGrip. One criticism I have is being unable to store both the ShiftCam ProGrip and iPhone in the included case. Because the accessory works with different-sized smartphones, this limitation makes sense from an engineering perspective, although it's still a disappointment. I’ll come right off the bat and will say I am not entirely sold on the build quality of the ShiftCam ProGrip. The device is a plastic fantastic, which isn’t bad in itself, but I do have concerns. The main body of the ProGrip is solid. There’s no flex or play anywhere and it feels as tough as plastic can get. The grip is also beefy and well made. All of the buttons feel great as well. The part that concerns me is the spring-loaded phone grip. Shiftcam’s products are frequently listed among the best brands in the field of mobile photography and filmmaking. Their products are hand assembled and high-quality, ensuring that your photos and films have the professional look you’re aiming for.
The biggest problem mobile photographers have faced for a long time is that the powerful, and very capable cameras in their phones are not always the easiest to hold and use. ShiftCam wanted to create a grip that would make that problem cease to exist. I have to say, the ShiftCam ProGrip does a mighty fine job of making your phone handle like a DSLR. For reference, I used the ProGrip with my iPhone 11 Pro Max with no problems whatsoever. Pros

The ProLens has won many awards including the Reddot Design Award in 2018. For this award, Shiftcam competed with 6,300 other innovations from 59 different companies. The competition was judged by 39 professionals, who declared Shiftcam the best in the business. The ProLens also won the CES Innovation Award in both 2018 and 2020. One other issue with my review sample is that the built-in ball head cannot tightly hold the weight of a phone and other SnapGrip accessories. ShiftCam stated that this would be fixed in production models and is caused by smooth paint applied to the ball head. The company plans to have the ball head textured with no paint in the production models.

I did hit a snag here in testing: the long, braided USB-C to USB-C cable provided in the box didn’t provide any charge when I connected it from ProGrip to my phone. Replacing the cable with a much shorter one did convince it to charge, so this is something you may need to watch for. ShiftCam ProGrip extras The final lens in the MultiLens case is a 180 Degree Fisheye Lens. This lens will let you express your creativity however you’d like from a fun and unique perspective. Not only is it ergonomically designed with a non-slip and perfectly angled grip, but it also contains a built-in battery to keep your phone charged for the duration of your photoshoot. With a single press, you can take a photo; with a longer press, begin capturing video. Setting up the shutter takes less than 30 seconds and requires simply using the iPhone's Bluetooth tool. My search for other smartphone grip options that worked with magnets rather than a clamp or holster came up empty. Should You Buy It?Battery life has increasingly become less of a problem with iPhones, although it's always nice when you add some juice on the fly. The ShiftCam ProGrip provides 15-watt wireless charging, which you can turn on/off with ease. Use the 20-watt USB-C port to recharge the device or add battery life to AirPods and other connected accessories. As needed, there's also parallel charging for both the ShiftCam ProGrip and the accessory. Inside is a 6400mAh powerbank. Other than the 1.33x anamorphic lens, these lenses aren't new to the market. However, it's been the first time we've been able to get our hands on them and compared to other phone camera lenses, they're a pretty desirable addition to a mobile photography kit. The MultiLens case protects your phone from damage due to dropping and gives you multiple lenses to choose from, without having to dig through your gear bag and attach them to your iPhone. ShiftCam says the battery "enables you to shoot up to 3 times more content" thank with the iPhone alone. I'm not sure where it came up with this number or which type of smartphone it used during testing. Unofficially, let's just say the ShiftCam ProGrip is a great way to add more battery life when away from your home and its electric plugs!
