The Action Bible targets juveniles ages eight and up with the look and feel of a graphic novel, from its kid-friendly artwork to its comic book style dialog boxes with easy-to-understand language.
Brazilian artist Sergio Cariello is the main artist for this series and is a veteran in the comic book industry, working for Marvel Comics and DC Comics. The Action Bible is a retelling of the Christian Bible in comic book form written and edited by Doug Mauss and illustrated by Sergio Cariello for David C. This is the only Catholic presentation of the Bible in existence and uses the Revised Standard Version-Catholic Edition for its text.
Our adult small group even got it out when we studied Daniel, because it has such great illustrations of the beasts. This David C Cook digital product is protected by copyright laws and is intended for non-commercial use only. The author always indicated "based on Judges 16:1-20" or whatever verses and, overall, did a good job accurately summarizing the Bible accounts.
The book includes mentions of Alexander of Macedon and the celebration of Hanukkah as well as the arrival of the Roman Empire in Israel. Also, the stories seemed more faithful to the Biblical narrative then some other Bible stories we have tried out. new pages of illustrations deliver a richer artistic experience with more close-up faces, historical details, and dramatic colours.The Action Bible has been translated into 29 languages and is distributed in 32 countries by David C. My oldest loves to read books and we supplement our family Bible reading time with another illustrated Bible.
